Janey is correct, according to my NLSBO and my google excursion. Brunette is
dark brown (not black and not light brown). So the question is where on the
brown spectrum, does light end and dark start ? What do we call black-haired
people ? Surely not blackheads, I have heard raven-haired in use.

Now to the Lego section of this post, is the standard brown set of Lego hair,
dark enough to be called brunette ?

pete.w (married to a very dark-end of the spectrum brunette)

Raven would be correct!  *ding ding ding* We have a winner here folks!
Of course "black hair" is also totally acceptable.  Now standard Lego brown hair
would totally qualify as brunette, but of course anything lighter would not.
Before this turns out to be a colour war, there are great titles for those that
don't fall under brunette, but are much too dark to be considered blonde.  My
favourite, being auburn (Lego's dark orange), which is a light brown with red
highlights.

Janey "Red Brick" (still a brunette, although arguably not)

P.S. I have cut and pasted those first 3 glorious words of your first sentence
into a text document and saved it to my desktop just for future reference.
