Re: I dont want to be a "steve"

(...) Lets see if I can recollect something... Hmmmm... (stokes chin thoughtfully...) There was Cinderblock... There was Chris ramp 'bot... Ahh yes, all these things have already been done in an rtl marble sorting competition... (and I missed 'em (...) (21 years ago, 14-Jan-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: I dont want to be a "steve"

(...) I'll give you my two demonstrated dink worthy situations so far: -Entering in a Lego sticker as a sumo competitor (JeffE) -Battery box thing on PipeRacers (Steve) I've been thinking hard about dinkness, and it's a vague accusation. Make hard (...) (21 years ago, 14-Jan-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: I dont want to be a "steve"

(...) Actually (Calum's not going to like this) I think that was a novel approach. Knowing that it's almost impossible for that 'entry' to cause an opponent to leave the sumo ring (unless it gets tangled in the opponent's sensors), that means the (...)   Re: I dont want to be a "steve"

(...) If you read the goal as not lose, then you've read it wrong, at least here in Toronto. A long time ago, we suspected a competitor cheated in a sumo event. Perhaps that person thought the goal was to "Not lose". (...) That's just dumb. That's (...) (21 years ago, 15-Jan-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: I dont want to be a "steve"

(...) I'm in. Currently there are two open slots for teams in F1. All it takes is 48 million and a two by four to enter. We can cut the two by four in half to make the two "car" team. Any one got anything they can mortgage for 48 million? Derek (21 years ago, 15-Jan-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: I dont want to be a "steve"

(...) Sorry I wasn't clear. In most competitions, I think the 'not lose' is more or less implied. In C$, a robot will lose if it mis-drops a chip (and signals end-of-turn). Yes, I read that as "A goal is to not lose" I suspect most people who enter (...) (21 years ago, 15-Jan-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) you said you'd never tell!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) i so hate you! :) :) :) :) :) Chris There's no 'I' in 'team'. There's four in 'platitude-quoting idiot'. (21 years ago, 15-Jan-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: I dont want to be a "steve"

(...) Yes. But that's not the point. Entering the sticker is being a dink--it's the sentiment. If you don't get that, don't bother making the trip. (...) Seriously Steve, I don't want that crap up here at all. If you're going to be a smartass about (...) (21 years ago, 15-Jan-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: I dont want to be a "steve"

I wish you guys would just shut up and build robots. Your sucking all the fun out of this. Derek (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  progress?

(...) sorry. :( How's your robot working? Hardware done, yet? Some guy still working on game engine for you? Chris said he could scan the board in 35 seconds. Mike said worst case: 15. (or was it 10?) Any estimate for scanning the board with your (...) (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: progress?

(...) i am trying to install BrickOS from scratch. as of right now, its chewed through 400 megs on my 700 meg HD on the P233 laptop as well, I started the process to install at 2 pm yesterday, and as of last night @ 8pm it was still churning out the (...)   Re: progress?

(...) Hi Chris, I'd ask over in robotics.rcx.legos. I know that I got the GCC language tools pre-compiled. I had no luck trying to build them myself. Kevin (...) Its about time! ;^) (...) Kevin (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: progress?

(...) I currently have the mechanics of my robot completed, with the exception of the horizontal drive. As usual the original plan for driving horizontal motion (basically no plan) didn't work out, so the new drive will look a little tacked on. It (...)
