another question from the dopey one

in the spectrum catalog i have, there are 2 sets i'm interested in... and i have to make a choice. so here's the stats on both technology resource set (p 126) 1733 pcs, 1 9 v 'old' motor, batt box, pneumatic pcs, etc. - $306.75 robolab starter (...)   polarity switches

After being scared by Chris that I would never be able to find any polarity switches... ;P I found some! en route to my house right now are four (4) switches. It took a call to Spectrum, then to LEGO Canada, and they tracked down some from the (...) (23 years ago, 26-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: steering at Rtl 8

(...) I thought it was called a 'synchro' base. Anyway, yes, very cool. I tried building one without the turntables, but I lost my motivation. It is possible to do it with those fancy dark grey gears though... By the way Iain, whats your beef with (...) (23 years ago, 26-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Pneumatic Concept

(...) I think Chris is right... about 4 complete cycles of a large cylinder is the best you will get with one air tank. I'm not sure if that doubles with two air tanks... If you use one of the tiny cylinders, it lasts *forever*. I guess you need as (...) (23 years ago, 26-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Music at Train1?

(...) It's not so much a question of how open or what kind, but whether it's appropriate for the Library. I think it's safer not to for now. There'll be little time to listen to music if everything goes as planned! Calum (23 years ago, 26-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Music at Train1?

How open are people to the idea of bringing a sound system so we can listen to music at train1? Who likes trance? <raises hand> (mmm, Buuren, Tiesto, Corsten , Darey... *wimpers*) Iain (23 years ago, 26-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Lowered Table for the Round House.

(...) Depends on how the turntable/roundhouse is being built. The original idea I had was that we'd find a square of plywood, and hang it with brackets from the two tables on each side. Then we'd build up from the plywood (perhaps a few bricks deep (...) (23 years ago, 26-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Lowered Table for the Round House.

Hi Guys, Just our of Curosity how are we going to support a lowered table portion? I'm afraid that if we leave this issue to the may 18th dinner there may not be a lot of time to plan things. Jeff (23 years ago, 26-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Train1 Reversing loop

(...) Have you thought about using a light sensor attatched to the conveyor with the beam directed at a white brick/plate in the hopper. Check every few seconds to see if the white is still visible if so keep filling, if not the hopper is full. i (...) (23 years ago, 26-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

it will take about 12 sec. to be corrected if i am wrong. but: (...) I >get (...) The small blue lego tank can be filled with 35 strokes of the big hand pump. once full, it will raise then lower a big cylinder 4 times. this is all from memory, all (...)   Re: steering at Rtl 8

(...) So I guess the phrase for Train1 was wrong - shoulda been: "No IFs, ANDs, ORs, or Bots" :D Jeff E (23 years ago, 25-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Train1 Reversing loop

(...) (URL) my 2nd attempt. I just use the conveyer, and a given set time to load. It works OK with a mixture of 1x1 bricks (round and regular), but does tend to jam up. I have the RCX code if you want, but it is really quite simple. 9 cars were (...) (23 years ago, 25-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Train1 Reversing loop

Hi folks, I thought I'd mention that in my chunk of the train1 layout I intend to provide a reversing loop (If S@H delivers my points fast enough) The basic idea here is that with the reversing loop and a tiny amount of training about how to throw (...)   Pneumatic Concept

A post by Dave earlier this week got me thinking about LEGO Pneumatic systems. For those who are "into" pneumatic systems... if I were to purchase an air tank, and fill it with a compressor, how many cycles of a cylinder can I get (fully (...)   Re: new customizable train sets....

(...) Sorry for the mistakes (leaving out letters, etc) I was drifting off asleep writing this up...I thought the original post was almost funny when I read it...especially with at least 3 mistakes in the middle paragraph. (23 years ago, 25-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) No, several of my coworkers like it, as do many of my friends. A little bit more intellectual than Law and Order, a little less common than ER. It's a good show. (...)   Re: Dinner Reschedule to Friday May 18th? Okay?

(...) Actually, I was referring to May 18th, as dinners are usually the second Friday of the month. I'll be gone May 4-12. (...) I don't think they give factory tours. (...) I certainly will! I'll even burn CD's of photos. Calum (23 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
