  Re: iMac

(...) I'm all for cool fast UNIX hardware. Hell, I had an Indy R4600 on my desk back at Nortel and a NeXTstation Turbo at home. I own the Apple Industrial Design coffee table book. Just don't complain to me you're not supported like those other (...) (20 years ago, 19-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: iMac

(...) But you still have a PC. Being a Mac use since '93, I bought a used PC laptop that I devote 100% to Mindstorms porgramming and LEGO Studios stuff (I know... I'm the only person in the world over 8 that animates with the LEGO software). But (...) (20 years ago, 19-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: iMac

(...) I was actually thinking about it too - the next computer I get (probably a laptop sometime next year) might be some sort of mac thing. Haven't touched macs since '96 or so, but with the built in unix, they're becoming pretty tempting. Oh, (...) (20 years ago, 19-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: iMac

(...) We're taking over the world 1 user at a time. HA HA HA HA! Actually I find it interesting that 5 people at our office have purchased iMacs in the last month. And they are all techies, none of these artsy fartsy types. :-) Derek (20 years ago, 19-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: iMac

(...) Sigh. That's like buying an SUV and complaining gas is expensive. You knew the Mac has little applications support from mainstream vendors. You knew that going in. You even paid your turtleneck yuppie tax to get the hardware! Bunch of Mac (...) (20 years ago, 19-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Finalizing Hobby Show Details

(...) Me?? Did I volunteer for this?? ;) Seriously, I'm just riding on other people's coat tails--"Hey Dave, do this" K, done "Dave, call that person..." K, called... "Dave, stand on your head and do the Macarana..." K, probably not... For the most (...) (20 years ago, 19-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.loc.ca, lugnet.loc.ca.on)

  Re: Finalizing Hobby Show Details

(...) All the thanks this year should go to Dave. I posted a couple of messages a few months ago, but Dave has been collecting the names and working with the show to get the booth details finalized.   Re: Finalizing Hobby Show Details

(...) Once in a while I get a call from Chris, who says strange things that don't make any sense. It's like he's having a one sided conversation. Then I realize he's calling me to pretend he's busy on the phone while in some location he shouldn't (...) (20 years ago, 18-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.loc.ca, lugnet.loc.ca.on)

Re: Three new Technic sets I got in Germany

(...) Well, I imported three from Germany before they are available in Canada. Sold two, built the third for some time, then took it apart and used the parts for something else. It is useful for parts. (...) (Begin Shameless Plug) If you dig 8438 (...) (20 years ago, 18-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Finalizing Hobby Show Details

(...) I'm trying to get info on this--it's a completely differnet display if we're against the wall. Waiting to hear back. I think, thoguh, that we'll handle the display well no matter if there's a wall or not. As long as we're near the Meccano (...)   Re: Finalizing Hobby Show Details

(...) I thought we had more space then that last year. Location is an important detail. Are we up against a wall like last year, and are we bordered by another display. This will seriously effect the perimeter of displayable area. (...) Ya, it (...) (20 years ago, 18-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.loc.ca, lugnet.loc.ca.on)

  Finalizing Hobby Show Details

The 2004 Hobby Show organizers are asking us for a few final details, such as the size of display we can put on for the throngs of people. From the e-mails sent to me, I believe that we can do a pretty good display for a 20 foot by 20 foot area. (...)   Three new Technic sets I got in Germany

While in Berlin last month, I ended up buying three Technic sets--the 8386 Ferrari 1:10 Racer, the 8438 Pneumatic Crane Truck and the 8439 Front End Loader. The FEL comes in the new X-ray style Technic box art work, but unfortunately is the (...) (20 years ago, 18-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
