  Re: LUGNET news RSS feed

(...) To do that properly though, I'd have to actually keep a history of every lugnet post - otherwise, if there weren't any train posts in the last 20, the train specific RSS feed would be empty. Not terrible, but not exactly desireable. Not saying (...) (20 years ago, 27-Jun-04, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: LUGNET news RSS feed

(...) Right - but that would end up with several thousand feeds, which almost no one actually reads. Not sure what the solution is - perhaps RSS (or Atom) support a "category" concept, and then allow on the client side to filter by category? Then we (...)   Re: LUGNET news RSS feed

(...) If you use an RSS reader to follow blogs, it fits nicely in that mold. At first I agreed with you - there's no structure... but it's so painless to view it in an RSS reader, that the lack of structure isn't really a problem. You just skip the (...) (...) These don't work for me when I load them into a RSS client. I get a list of entries, but I just get the homepage no matter what entry I click on. --Bill (20 years ago, 25-Jun-04, to lugnet.inst, lugnet.off-topic.geek, FTX)

  Re: Yahoo Blocks Trillian Users

(...) Why not just say "we, Yahoo, want everyone to use our client so we can send them ads and popups and keep users from thinking about using other IM services" instead of giving some gafla about spim. They can say whatever they want, if it's true, (...) (20 years ago, 24-Jun-04, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Yahoo Blocks Trillian Users

This is a nuisance. I like using Trillian for IM. (URL) Mike Walsh - mike_walsh at mindspring.com (URL) - North Carolina LEGO Train Club (URL) - Carolina Train Builders (URL) - CTB/Brick Depot (20 years ago, 24-Jun-04, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: LUGNET news RSS feed

(...) It's a funky character issue. When you take the funky characters that are used in Web sites (smart quotes, for instance) dump them as is into an RSS feed, the browser, and often many readers kick back on it. It doesn't look like, at this (...) (20 years ago, 24-Jun-04, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
