Re: Slashdot (was:Bad News for Brickbay!?)

(...) There's so many categories to choose from, it's hard to know which one is right. (...) Ah, of course. I guess I should have misspelled every 3rd word and made it sound like incoherent clueless rambling. (23 years ago, 26-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Slashdot (was:Bad News for Brickbay!?)

(...) Yah, I'm guessing that most of the "editors" don't read what you're submitting, they just reject it. That's probably why it takes tons of submissions to get a story up, you have to get enough in that it slips past the rejectors. (23 years ago, 25-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Slashdot (was:Bad News for Brickbay!?)

I think it depends more on how the title is phrased, which category is chosen and how it is written. I have had success by writing submissions in that certain 'slashdot style'. KL (...) (23 years ago, 25-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Tron Easter Egg

(...) Well, I didn't already own it. I don't recommend buying the 20th ann. edition if you already own it on DVD. There's only a couple deleted scenes, and the "making of" documentary is a big yawn. Excellent quality transfer from film, however. (...) (23 years ago, 22-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Tron Easter Egg

(...) I still am. I'm not sure whether to say, "oooh! cool!" or say, "dangit, I already _bought_ Tron on DVD once already!" -JDF (23 years ago, 22-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Lord of the One Remote

(...) I don't have this problem. When I switch from TV to DVD, I gotta get up and walk over to put a DVD in the machine anyhow. So I just hit all the buttons while I'm there... -JDF [Now, if that Marantz 1200 has a robotic DVD changerator, I am _so_ (...) (23 years ago, 22-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Tron Easter Egg

(...) Lol. I was debating whether or not to get Tron on DVD. I think that decided it for me. :-) -Mike Petrucelli (23 years ago, 21-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Tron Easter Egg

I was watching my Tron 20th anniversary DVD tonight and I noticed something. Immediately after Flynn, Tron, and Ram escape the light cycle grid, Sark yells "Get Them!" If you look at the screen next to Sark's face, you can see Pac Man and some (...) (23 years ago, 21-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  html/javascript question

If I have a website that uses javascript to format the navigation bars, page footers, etc and I want to rearrange the site into subdirectories(1); how do I set some sort of path to reach the javascripts to format the pages in the new subdirectories? (...) (23 years ago, 20-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Worth looking at!

(...) Yeesh -- they still take up 50% of one CPU on my dual PIII 933 at home. There's totally got to be a better way to get that effect. (Speed of the connection has nothing to do with it, by the way. The image is less than 8k. (23 years ago, 17-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Lord of the One Remote

(...) Touchscreens *suck* for remote controls. The tactile feedback of good old regular buttons is really important. I personally am really happy with my X10 learning remote (URL). Unfortunately, it only has memory for a few dozen programmed keys, (...) (23 years ago, 16-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Lord of the One Remote

(...) Oh gosh, now I've realized that my first computer - Apple ][+ - is older than Shiri or Tim C. Bruce (typing this on his Compaq while the Mac G4 sits turned off) (23 years ago, 16-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  MS Access 97 question

Hey guys, How do I create a report that is horizontal where the row headers appear only on the left of each page once, even if there is more than one column? Kinda like: Header 1 Record 1 Record 2 Header 2 Record 1 Record 2 Header 3 Record 1 Record (...) (23 years ago, 16-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Lord of the One Remote

(...) Well, you understand...Apple has ALWAYS been ahead of their time...WAY ahead of their time! Gotta' give Microsoft and Dell and the others plenty of time to steal the Apple innovation and proclaim it as their own creativity! 8?) Matt (23 years ago, 16-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Lord of the One Remote

(...) 120 years ago?? Whoa.... I'm impressed! I had no idea you were that old. (23 years ago, 16-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Lord of the One Remote

(...) Ehh, funny thing. Marantz = Philips. The remote I got was only $149. It does all the stuff I want. I could have spent about 250 and bought the cooler one with the touch screen, but I decided to forego the keen factor and just go for function. (...)   Re: Lord of the One Remote

(...) $1000 for a remote? My brain just threw a rod! That's more than my DVD player, receiver, and speakers combined! Of course I have lower budget devices, but that isn't the point. It would be nice, though, to be able to switch from watching cable (...) (23 years ago, 16-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Lord of the One Remote

(...) The Marantz is nice, but I still like the Philips Pronto <drool>...who ever thought you could drop $500-$1000 for a remote control, huh? (Of course, I could do all the same things on my Apple MessagePad 120 years ago, but there you go...) Matt (23 years ago, 16-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Lord of the One Remote

I have achieved a state of One Remote For Every Device. It is a wondrous state. Marantz RC1200 Remote... mmm...mmm. Not only does it control everything in my entertainment center, but it also allows programming of Macros, so I can have it carry out (...) (23 years ago, 16-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
