If I have a website that uses javascript to format the navigation bars,
page footers, etc and I want to rearrange the site into
subdirectories(1); how do I set some sort of path to reach the
javascripts to format the pages in the new subdirectories?

I tried using the <base href=...> tag and this works to display the
pages OK, but any links on that page end up going to the live site and
not my local copies.

any ideas?

1- when i took control of the site it was 80-something pages in one
directory along with all the images.  since this is a web page for a
university department i would like to have it as organized as possible(i
hope).
