I like OM very much. I am biased, of course--I'm an official at the local
tournament (got to say it like you're from Jersey) and a judge at the state
tournament. I haven't gotten to a World Tournament, yet.

OM does get competitive, but that's to be somewhat expected -- these kids have
worked for months on their presentation, and they get one day to show their

The coach for my older son's team doesn't even stay around to collect the
scores. She's there for the kids, that they get to present their work.

OM is *extremely* good at identifying (and deducting points for) outside
assistance.

It has given them experience working with a team to achieve a goal. Everything
from social skills, to championing ideas, to making (as Larry said) tough
decisions.
