Also in the US tips are expected, whereas in Europe they are not (although
they are generally accepted). I couldn’t find any info on the relative
amounts made in tips, but they are not included in wage comparisons.

Waiters earn tips, and generally earn less than 5.15 due to this. Cashiers
at Burger King, Book shelvers at a University Library, and such menial jobs
earn no tips and recieve 5.15 minus taxes for their labor.
