Also in the US tips are expected, whereas in Europe they are not (although they are generally accepted). I couldn’t find any info on the relative amounts made in tips, but they are not included in wage comparisons.

(...) Waiters earn tips, and generally earn less than 5.15 due to this. Cashiers at Burger King, Book shelvers at a University Library, and such menial jobs earn no tips and recieve 5.15 minus taxes for their labor. (18 years ago, 27-Mar-07, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Granted, most of us don't work for minimum wage, but some debate about the Playstation3 price difference on (URL) between the States and Europe has yielded an interesting tidbit of information, perhaps useful in understanding the LEGO price (...)
