i post on forums alot and they are more lax than here.

Look, I'm in the camp that thinks Tim was objectionable, but your text really
_is_ hard to read.  It takes your readers extra time to figure out what you're
saying because of your wide disregard for grammar.  I personally, think that you
are being disrespectful of everyone who might read you by not making a little
effort.  And anyway, why wouldn't you want to get better?

Here's what you do.  Remeber to start with a few basic tricks and then follow
one process.  Type up your next note to LUGNET.  Before you post it, fix all the
simple stuff:

* Every complete thought you are writing should begin with a capital letter and
end with a period.
* Every instance of the word "I" should be capitalized.
* When you are responding to another post, some of the word you'll be using will
appear in the parent note, check it for spelling -- at least if you're unsure.
* Learn how commas regulate flow and cadence.  Look at what you read and how
commas shape your reading (and especially speaking) speed.  As you become aware
of commas, you'll use them too much.  That's OK -- it's something you can wean
yourself from, but doesn't particularly hurt the reader.
* Learn to differentiate "to" from "too" and "two" and then "there" from "their"
and "they're."
* "It's" is a contraction of "it is" and "its" is the possesive of it.

After you've done that, then copy-paste it into Word (or your WP of choice) and
fix all the misspellings that the software finds.  But don't just mindlessly
accept them.  Read it.  Note what you got wrong and what the right spelling is.
You only have to do that about fifteen times before you never spell that word
wrong again.  This is a time investment on your part that will seem dull and
endless, but I assure you that it is temporary and will lead you to riches.
Finally, use the grammar checker.  I feel free to ignore the suggested
corrections and you should too...eventually.  But for now, read what it thinks
you did wrong and fix it the way it thinks is right.  Occasionally you'll know
it's wrong because the new sentence doesn't mean what you mean, but that clues
you in to some structural deformity in your writing.  Take advantage of the free
teaching.
