   This kills both your points.

So Fox a free network channel has better ratings than CNN a ‘pay for’ cable channel. What does that have to do with ABC, NBC, and CBS (all free network channels) all having better ratings than Fox?

That’s not really a good comparison, though. FOX is a 24-hour news/propaganda outlet, while ABC and NBC are entertainment channels with occasional news coverage (and pretty crappy coverage, at that). CBS is also an entertainment channel and can hardly be called liberal, as is proven by their recent spinelessness regarding the miniseries about his majesty.

The better comparison would be between FOX and CNN or FOX and CNBC, for example. It would be nice to have a source more current than January of 2002, though.

Dave!
