    Re: Somebody help. —John Neal
(...) Hey Ryan, you sound like a real prize. I can tell you have a great future ahead of you relating to women. Now why don't you pack up your little pubescent Q&A and go back to RTL like a good boy, or at the least .people. Your inane blathering (...) (25 years ago, 3-Oct-99, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

        Re: Somebody help. —Simon Robinson
John, what's your problem? I'd agree it's rather unfortunate that Ryan hasn't responded to the gentle suggestions that .people would be a better place to discuss this. But to say (...) is - well - words fail me - do you _really_ mean that? Wanting (...) (25 years ago, 3-Oct-99, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

         Re: Somebody help. —John Neal
(...) Well, I guess I was a little harsh, but I would say that soliticing advice about relationships from a group of strangers [1] on the net is dubious at best. Seems to me this is what fleshy friends are for. At worst I would deem it a pernicious (...) (25 years ago, 4-Oct-99, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

         Re: Somebody help. —Ryan Smith
[SNIP] Now I remember why I was wanting to commit suicide in the 6th grade. One of these post brought it back but I can't remember which one and I wouldn't say which one either if I remembered which one it was. (25 years ago, 4-Oct-99, to lugnet.people)

          Re: Somebody help. —Matthew Miller
(...) Ouch. I hope you're feeling better about the world these days. I remember sixth grade as being a difficult time for me too. But now I'm old and wise (aka 24) and things are turning out very happily. So trust me: there's hope. (25 years ago, 4-Oct-99, to lugnet.people)

          Re: Somebody help. —Mike Stanley
(...) I slipped on a puddle of water on the way back to class after lunch and broke my two front teeth out (permanent teeth, too, not baby teeth) and bled all over the place. Ruined a perfectly good t-shirt, which, in my shocked state, was all I (...) (25 years ago, 4-Oct-99, to lugnet.people)

Re: Somebody help. —Christopher L. Weeks
(...) I think Fleshy Friends(tm) is what he's trying to acquire. I've been assuming the second option listed above. If I were so geeky that I couldn't ask girls out (oh wait...I was :-) then I would certainly be too insecure to discuss how insecure (...) (25 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

         Re: Somebody help. —Simon Robinson
In lugnet.off-topic.debate, John Neal writes: Sorry for not replying to this earlier - been a little busy. Anyway... (...) <snip> (...) Just out of interest, why? Is it because you're worried about dodgy people being on the web or because you don't (...) (25 years ago, 7-Oct-99, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

        Re: Somebody help. —Mike Stanley
(...) Not sure I would have put it *quite* this way, but yeah, what he said. I've been as tolerant as I'm going to be, made some suggestions I thought were helpful only to have him ask me to write the thing for him (poem), then to see this kind of (...)         Re: Somebody help. —Ryan Smith
(...) (poem), (...) I've got writers block, I can't help it. I didn't ask for a whole poem. (...) I'm not an egocentric person, SORRY for sounding like one. (...) (25 years ago, 4-Oct-99, to lugnet.people)

        Re: Somebody help. —Mike Stanley
(...) You can work through writer's block, trust me. Putting ANYthing down on paper gets you started. Not sure most of the advice I could offer writing-wise would be of much use to a freshman in high school, so do what I suggested and talk to a (...) (25 years ago, 4-Oct-99, to lugnet.people)

        Re: Somebody help. —Ryan Smith
   (...) I think that's it (25 years ago, 4-Oct-99, to lugnet.people)

        Re: Somebody help. —Matthew Miller
(...) I don't think "limerick" and "romantic" go together very well! If you want to impress someone, that isn't the way to do it. Try just writing something several stanzas long about something interesting from everyday life. Pick a concrete image (...) (25 years ago, 4-Oct-99, to lugnet.people)

        Re: Somebody help. —Matthew Miller
A great example of a villanelle is <URL:(URL) Note that Mr. Dylan Thomas pretty much disregards my advice about focusing on concrete images. Oh well. Listen to the audio if you can -- it works a lot better that way. You can see -- or hear, rather -- (...) (25 years ago, 4-Oct-99, to lugnet.people)
