After seeing the show, it appears that Conan didn't give a **** about your
bust.

That seems a bit harsh. My impression was that he was overwhelmed (and not in a
good way) by all the stuff they threw at him. He didn't really have a chance to
see any of it. Further, the hosts made a big deal of pointing out the fact that
he didn't like surprises, and then brought in surprise after surprise, which
seems to me to be pretty rude. My impression of his reaction to everything was
that he was very uncomfortable with the whole event.

Having watched the entire spot, I would agree with Rick's assessment.  If
anything, Conan was polite and took it all in comedic stride.

Allan B.

Hmm...  maybe you are right.  I didn't see it that way.  Anyway, the harsh-ness
of my post wasn't toward Eric, but towards Conan, so I hope I didn't hurt
anyone's feelings here.  Whatever is the reason why he didn't appreciate the
gifts, I think at least that the people there made a poor job on organizing
that.  It was obvious that they didn't spend much time on this.

Probably more time than you imagine.  Pulling off a 'spontaneous' event like
that can take days of planning.

I still think the sculpture didn't get any attention from Conan even when they
pointed it out.  He looked at the aluminium one and at the cake, but never did
he made any comment or spent any time watching Eric's bust.

Not quite true.  Matt made a comment that a ten year anniversary is tin, and
thus the reason for the tin foil sculpture.  Someone then commented that they'd
also gotten his bust done in LEGO (I believe Katie said this, I'm not sure).
Conan than specifically referred to the "LEGO" bust, but not to the foil one.  I
believe the LEGO bust got as much air time as did the sheep which was more than
the fire eater.

To me, Eric would
have been better off never accepting this project, but with hind sight, it's
easy for me to say...  I guess it could have turned out to be the best project
of his career if it did get the attention it deserved and if it wasn't broken.

Perhaps the expectation (among this group) was that the LEGO bust was to be the
featured surprise.  Clearly it was just part of a larger spectacle.

Just my thoughts,
Allan B.
