If you are having deja vu all over again, it is because that was a portion of a
speech given by President Clinton on December 19, 1998.

What I would like is for someone to explain why this action was fine for
Clinton but outrageous for President Bush, or is it that the Left is just a
bunch of partisan, self-serving hypocrites.

JOHN

Hmmm, let me search my faulty recollection--was there a war against Iraq in
'98?  Hmmm... not so much.

We bombed Bagdad with 500 cruise missles-- call it what you will.

Did the Democrats get some sort of peaceful
worked out solution to the problem?

We bombed Bagdad with 500 cruise missles-- would you call that "peaceful"?

Was Bubba hell bent on going to war or
was there a legitimate process to find an alternate way of resolving the
crisis?  Hmmm...

Hmmm, We bombed Bagdad with 500 cruise missles....

War?  Troops sent in to fight?  Was Clinton building up the forces, daring
Saddam to 'slip up even just a little bit'?

You looking for Deja Vu?  Who started the last war against Iraq?  There's your
Deja vu.

If you are referring to the unprovoked Iraqi attack upon Kuwait, then I'd say
Iraq did.

Here's a question--Is Kuwait any better off today?

Rather than being occupied by Iraq???? Are you goofy?? Why don't you ask that
question to ANY Kuwaiti?

I would if I could, but there's a tinpot dictator in charge of that country
that, so the rumours go, is more of a 'dick'tator than Saddam is.  Just
because this new leader 'gets along' with US (or just 'Big Oil') does not
negate his own atrocities.

And I like being goofy :)

Who sold WoMD to the Iraqis and helped them develop their arsenal in the
first place?  There's your irony.

Umm, France?  Yeah, I'd say that's ironic.

Well, no, not really--

"We've always known that he's had weapons of mass destruction. The reason we
know that is that the United States encouraged him to begin that nuclear
weapons program, as I disclose in my new book. We gave Hussein a wink and a
nod to manufacture a nuke because we believe that he was going to vaporize
the Iranians in the 1980's during their war. That's how we know he has a
program -- because we built it for him. And no one wants to talk about that,
especially Mr. Bush since his daddy was the architect of the Iraqi program
-- using the Saudi Arabians as the "cut-out."

(from an earlier link in this debate)

Who's father says (paraphrased) "I hate Saddam.  I hate him.  I wish he
would cease to exist.  I really really hate him."

Mine?  My son's?

Hmmm...

So, well, whatever.

Whatever indeed.  You didn't answer my question.

JOHN

No, I think I did.
