Re: How big is to big?

(...) Maybe the worst "aircraft disaster", since the biggest I know had a 500+ death total (crashing 747s on the ground). (...) Why? I can't see anything that decreases the safety when compared the dying with 100 other people and dying with 600 (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: This will get someone upset...

Re: What age does buying lego become embarrassing?

(...) Actually, that isn't the best way to do it. Why should I pay for your roads with my lawnmower gas? Ultimately, the best way to apportion the costs for roads might be a toll system using some kind of ID thing on the car (and such a system can (...)   Re: How big is to big?

(...) I don't think Airbus will decide against it. They really want to go through with this, the only possible problem they face is rejection from thier biggest (I think) shareholder, DaimlerChrysler, which owns about 30% of Airbus. Apparently, they (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: How big is to big?

(...) So, (...) He's a corporate flack? :-) Seriously, bigger planes do mean some changes required at the gates to load/unload but also, since the number of slots is fixed unless you build more runways and since runways cost a lot more to build than (...)   Re: This will get someone upset...

(...) Might not be important, but it might be interesting. After all, part of having a community is meeting people, right? (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, lugnet.admin.terms, lugnet.faq)

Re: This will get someone upset...

(...) That's ridiculous. It's not like that at all. It's like meeting someone you don't know at a lego convention, and they give you their card. I've done that. It's got my name and e-mail address on it, it's small, it's convenient, it's an accepted (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, lugnet.admin.terms, lugnet.faq)

Re: This will get someone upset...

(...) Marc, I don't understand. Should people be ashamed of where they work or what they do? (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, lugnet.admin.terms, lugnet.faq)

Re: How big is to big?

(...) Cool! (...) I snipped this a bit, but I think this pseudo-quote is true to the intent. So, he's saying they're stupid and that they'll be buying some in the same breath, right? What's wrong with this picture? (...) Cool, so they can buy these (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

In lugnet.off-topic.debate, Greg and Shiri write: (...) But predicting how it affects them is tough. I rebelled against it and basically went out of my way to do whatever peerpressure told me not to do. It was kind of a viscious circle and caused an (...)   Re: What age does buying lego become embarrassing?

I came to much the same conclusion. Normally I avoid driving in New York, but, my SO brought a little subcompact, and there we were, outgunned on the mean streets. So we got a Jeep Cherokee. It's the smallest SUV that is still able to carry 4 tall (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: How big is to big?

(...) What? What kind of logic is that? Suppose someone sets off a bomb in a large office tower. Do you feel safe going to work? Boeing has plans to build a double-decker as well, should Airbus decide to go through with theirs. If enough airline (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: What age does buying lego become embarrassing?

(...) Yeah, these prices should all be rolled into the price of fuel. But, wouldn't people freak out if gas went up to $3 per gallon and the prices of all non-local goods (like 70% of groceries) rose in price by 30%? I'm really sick of people (...)   How big is to big?

(exert taken from CNN article) "(CNN) -- The challenge for the travel industry in the next century is to accommodate an anticipated boom in tourism and commuting -- and to do so in style.   Re: SUVs (was Re: What age does buying lego become embarrassing?)

(...) Actually, I should add that Mercedes-Benz does sell a mini-van in Europe, the V-Class. It has not been a big hit. It uses some Sprinter and Volkswagen EuroVan/Caravelle mechanicals. (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
