Re: What's Good for the Goose....

(...) I sort of agree with your view. Surely, a purely social club is a waste of everyone's time at a high school. But, having clubs that form around a topic, like say "Germanic mythology" or "Ethiopian dance," wouldn't be a problem as long as (...) (21 years ago, 30-Sep-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: Ted Koppel Brings the Pain

(...) Is it a Brain F**t, or a Mind F**k? So far, my signs don't seem to be having much of an effect on public opinion in this country. I live on a busy street, and hung out a pair of colorful signs that read: "Enough Stupid Lies" "Impeach Bush" (...) (21 years ago, 29-Sep-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Ontario Vote this week...

So there's a provincial election in a matter of days. I've been following the issues as close as I possibly want, balancing my stress level with that of listening to the leaders yammer. So it comes down to this--I like what Howard Hampton has to (...) (21 years ago, 29-Sep-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Ted Koppel Brings the Pain

Is Bush's War in Iraq A "Brain XXXX"? Edit: XXXX word in title censored for Lugnet (URL) "When we put our enlisted men and women in harm's way, it had better count for something, It can't be because some policy wonk back here has a brain XXXX of an (...)   Re: Intellectual Property Question

(...) I am of the opinion that having purchased a license, that they should replace the non-performing media either for free within some reasonable time frame, or at cost. Or, you have the right to make back-up copies. I have utterly no problem in (...) (21 years ago, 27-Sep-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Intellectual Property Question

(...) Yes, I do, generally by installing software on my system that has no business being on there, and often is exceedingly hard to later remove. (...) Yes, I know, but I'd prefer CDA tracks, even if they are rather large. I'd rather burn a exact (...) (21 years ago, 27-Sep-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Intellectual Property Question

snip (...) I am pretty sure I read that the "CD-like disks" can be made into CDs by using a magic marker and coloring in the data track. Theres a couple million bucks of development down the toilet. I know I personally will not buy a CD that I can't (...) (21 years ago, 27-Sep-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

  Re: Intellectual Property Question

Tom: I suppose you realize you could just download these two songs, right? The RIAA has specifically targeted uploaders, not downloaders. The theory is that it is possible to have a need, not unlike you own, that might make downloading a song a (...) (21 years ago, 27-Sep-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

  Re: Intellectual Property Question

This is a good question, especially since I am in this situation. Before moving from CA to FL, I tried to get my entire 250+ CD collection burned to MP3s, so I could cram them on an Archos to listen to in the moving truck (they totalled more than (...)   Credibility Gap: Wal-Mart's Corporate Welfare

Will break to Wal-Mart really pay? (URL) Let me make sure I understand this correctly: Here in Colorado, a state that largely deplores welfare, affordable housing assistance and other entitlement programs, the city of Denver wants to give $10 (...)   Re: Intellectual Property Question

(...) Richard: use Bush’s tax cut to buy shares in these companies and live on the dividend. When you spend the income, your unemployed countrymen will get jobs flipping ‘burgers (say) for you!   Re: Intellectual Property Question

Yeah, those are all good questions... Capitalism is dead too, though. I have given it long and serious thought and there's a very good reason that Roddenberry never really investigated the economy of the future in Star Trek -- the main thing is that (...)   CA Recall Election Comments

(URL) WoMD found in Iraq? And yet, somehow this will get buried in the background noise... So Iraq has no ties to 9/11 and no WoMD were found in Iraq.
