  Re: MB sites

(...) See below for the URL. Not much in the way of MOC's I'm afraid. I've been tainted by Lego trains lately. :-) (...) I've had to stop buying battleships and carriers. I've got a 112 litre container of grey MB 2 x 4's and it is difficult to move (...) (24 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

(...) Wow - that carrier is huge! I'm wondering, though, do those fighters lock onto studs at all, or are they just smooth little models? -Jeremiah- (24 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: MB sites

(...) Both actually. The Micro F-14's are similar to what you would find in a glue together plastic scale model kit. They have some surface detail too. I just tested them on a ..ahem.. Lego baseplate and they do grip on to the studs. They have two (...) (24 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

(...) glue (...) with (...) deck (...) There are a few studs on the deck, but mostly near the edges. As well as being able to sit on the studs, you can also tilt them nose up and park them on their tail (only need a single stud for this), so they (...)   Chris Gray's site (was Re: MB sites)

(...) Loved the castley stuff, despite not being a castlehead myself, and the comparisons between the carrier and battleship were helpful - thanks. Beyond religious fervour, why would castleheads not be out there buying every carrier and battleship (...) (24 years ago, 12-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Chris Gray's site (was Re: MB sites)

(...) Religious fervour it is. I wonder how many "MB never" people have actually tested the bricks out. Lego Bulk didn't really change the cost of bricks, just made them a bit easier to obtain (for those in the lucky countries). But if people wish (...)   Re: Chris Gray's site (was Re: MB sites)

(...) I have worked with Mega Bloks. They don't hold together quite so well as LEGO bricks. They're not as bad as Best Lock. They also aren't quite as uniform in color as LEGO bricks (but that may be a plus for castle building). People have noted (...) (24 years ago, 12-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: MB sites

(...) Nice site. I do have a comment on your review of the carrier: the crane piece which you mention as being new is an old piece I think. It looks like the crane piece in the Creature Seekers floating ship (one of a handfull of Mega Bloks sets (...) (24 years ago, 12-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: MB sites

(...) If you mean this piece: (URL) then you're certainly correct; it's been around at least since the Planetoids series of a few years ago. Dave! (24 years ago, 12-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: MB sites

(...) Thanks for the update - I've fixed the page. I've never bought any of the creature seekers sets (purple and bright green for castles????), so haven't seen it before. (24 years ago, 12-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Chris Gray's site (was Re: MB sites)

(...) It *is* simple religious fervour. My Castle Wall Components, which I featured at Brickfest 2000, were mostly Lego brand bricks, with a random amount of both MB and Tyco bricks to add realism and aesthetic detail (more than just a plain gray (...)   Re: Chris Gray's site (was Re: MB sites)

(...) No, it's not. At least, not in my case. My "prejudice" against MB is mostly 2 factors: (partly 1, but mostly 2) 1: Nostalgia. I grew up with Lego, I didn't grow up with Mega Bloks. 2: I don't like the feel of Mega Bloks. It's that simple. I've (...) (24 years ago, 13-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Chris Gray's site (was Re: MB sites)

(...) Gosh. Then brand me a zealot, I guess. :( Sometimes it seems like some of the clone-brand friendly are quicker to take up the torch than the Lego purists. Yeesh. Well, If I'm going to be called a fanatic I might as well be one. Time to go burn (...) (24 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

In lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, James Brown writes: (snip) (...) Why jump to such a negative connotation to "religious fervour"???? It can also mean "enthusiastic devotion" -- which means that the Ritvik factory is quite safe, as your time is (...) (24 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Chris Gray's site (was Re: MB sites)

(...) Alrighty. Your ID Card should arrive within 4-6 business days (...) Nah. In this case, "religious fervor" boils down to "I like LEGO because it's LEGO. I don't like Brand X because it's not LEGO." (...) Ooo, that's gonna smell something awful. (...) (24 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Chris Gray's site (was Re: MB sites)

(...) I'm not sure why I took that with such a negative bent. But I'll think aloud for a bit. (warning, this is going to be rambling, long, and might turn into a rant) I think Lego is pretty cool. I grew up with it, and remember when it was the only (...) (24 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Chris Gray's site (was Re: MB sites)

(...) I think James has hit a key point here. Things that we did as kids stick with us, and are viewed "through rose-tinted glasses". That's likely unavoidable - most of us had lots of fun as kids, and spent lots of time playing. One of the (...) (24 years ago, 15-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)
