  Megabloks sighted

Pink and purple Megabloks were seen coupling with faded old blue Lego bricks on my mousepad today. Additional, muted, colors were joining in from both sides. It seems the older Lego types no longer get along with the new generation, but they play (...) (24 years ago, 5-Dec-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: MegaBloks MECHA

Dave! Let me get this straight -- you saw but did not purchase the J-227 Quadwalker? C'mon Dave!, the thing looks like it's practically covered in trans-antifreeze 2x2 tiles, and are those some kind of new cones there being used as rockets? I have (...)   1976 German Lego Polly Hobby TRAIN

I spotted this on ebay. It is a rather dull train clone fron 1976: (URL) this the only train clone? Scott A (24 years ago, 3-Dec-01, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: MegaBloks MECHA - For Shame, LEGO, For Shame!

I never thought I'd say this, but: I've gotta get me some Megabloks! Those are sweet, and exactly what LEGO should be doing. Let's hope these things sell like hotcakes and wake 'em up to how lucrative the mecha market is. Makes me wonder why they (...) (24 years ago, 3-Dec-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  MegaBloks MECHA

On the heels of its Blok-Bots product line, MegaBloks has just released the first batch of "Warriors Future Force" mecha-style vehicles. These feature the same click-joints as the Blok-Bots, as well as new weaponry. I saw four types on the shelf at (...) (24 years ago, 2-Dec-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: TYCO Calculator?

(...) Well, $26 + p&p is a little too much for a calculator to me, and the other ... is insisting on US only. :o( Thanks for the links, at least now I know how they look. /Tore (24 years ago, 1-Dec-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: TYCO Calculator?

(...) Here are another two for auction: (URL) They December 2nd and 5th, respectively. I'm not the seller, and I won't be bidding. Good luck to anyone interested! Dave! (24 years ago, 30-Nov-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Jackie's Architectural Toys List

I found this list of block brands, (URL) a nice discussion of what they are all about, (URL) to a bibliography at the Hudson-Mohawk Industrial Gateway which mentioned the Embossing Company. (24 years ago, 30-Nov-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: What brand is this?

Actually, PVC can be molded into moderately detailed shapes. There is a model railroad materials company (evergreen I think) that makes trusses, I beam, tubing, and etc. out of PVC. It's much more slippery than styrene, requires a different glue, (...) (24 years ago, 27-Nov-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: What brand is this?

(...) Doh! Hoisted by *my* petard! I think you're right, insofar as I can judge the plastic simply by handling it; polystyrene it is. I spell Chemistry with a capital F. Dave! (24 years ago, 26-Nov-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: What brand is this?

(...) ?? Really?? Not some sort of Styrene but Poly Vinyl Chloride, the stuff that those offwhite household sewage pipes are made of? That's wild. I would have expected Polystyrene (which is not as good as ABS, the "better" styrene) for this usage. (...) (24 years ago, 26-Nov-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: What brand is this?

(...) I received the item today, and it's, well, sort of weird. I've given it only a cursory inspection, but the plastic appears to be PVC, and the parts are packaged on a couple of sprues. The odd thing is that nearly all of the parts are direct (...) (24 years ago, 26-Nov-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Careful what you wish for: clone LOTR blocks sighted

(...) <SNIP> In case anyone is interested, I noticed 3 or 4 of these sets at the local WM today. I think they are a new item just arrived for Christmas. Check your local WM, they may have them. Ray (24 years ago, 23-Nov-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.market.shopping)

  Re: TYCO Calculator?

Cool! Never heard of the calculator before. I'd love to see a picture of it. I recall I made an mechanical addition machine for numbers up to 50 (or was it 40?) when I was in my early teens. So Tyco wasn't first. :o) BTW, I've bought an alarm clock (...) (24 years ago, 21-Nov-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  TYCO Calculator?

I recently acquired one of these via eBay, and I'd have to say it's every bit as cool as the legendary phone. It's in the same green-and-black scheme and has the same brick drawer for important storage. It's just a basic eight-digit display and no (...)   Re: LEGO in Hong Kong and China

(...) No, my memory seems to play tricks with me. I could have sworn that the Swedish word "gåshud" (litt. "goose-skin") was idiomatically translated to "duckskin", but both my dictionary and your reply prove me wrong. The only explaination I have (...)
