Re: Tyco Superblocks page (Re: What ever happened to the copycat brand TYCO?)

(...) (snip) (...) Ever feel intimidated by a row of MegaBlok cavalry? Hard to, when they are all falling off their horses. I have had the Tyco Black castle for 15 years or so, so I may be nostalgic, but I like the minifigs in that set. While I did (...) (23 years ago, 6-Nov-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Tyco Superblocks page (Re: What ever happened to the copycat brand TYCO?)

(...) Actually, you don't. I LOVE Tyco bricks, but not because the minifigures are cool -- because they are not*. Although they seem to forget this simple fact and produce some really weird stuff from time to time (I am not digging these HP minis (...) (23 years ago, 6-Nov-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Buried in bricks

Cruel site of the day (www.cruel.com), 4 November 2001 Rest in Interlocking Plastic Piece Pyra Development wants to put fun back into funerals: Turn cremated people into 18-by-18-by-21 inch plastic bricks and build a 24-story-tall LEGO pyramid -- or (...)   Re: Review of LotRs Prancing Pony

(...) I picked up the Prancing Pony set this weekend and was pleasantly surprised. While the design is very simple, and the piece:price ratio isn't great regardless of talking Blox, the number of 2x4 bricks is impressive. As I mentioned elsewhere, (...)   Re: New Construction Toy In LDraw Format

(...) Writing them, I primarily used a text editor, LEdit, and L3Lab. I'm not entirely comfortable with the way MLCad displays on my tiny monitor, so I didn't examine the clones too thoroughly in that system. Do you know what that error message (...)   Re: New Construction Toy In LDraw Format

Dave! I haven't resolved the aforementioned issues, but I did spend more time with the clones in the various LDraw programs. And... ...they SO rock, Baby! I probably would not have made the effort to make the MB minifigure, or to have included what (...) (23 years ago, 4-Nov-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: New Construction Toy In LDraw Format

(...) 1. I get some weird File 4 error 2. An error message telling me that c020103c.dat has an error at line 62 3. c020106b.dat seems to be missing? d. And there is also a missing file at S/973p40a.dat, but I am not sure this relates to the clones (...) (23 years ago, 4-Nov-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Nilo humongous baseplate, wrong size building tables

While at a local mom-and-pop toystore I noticed these giant baseplates made by Nilo called the 2-sided block mat. They have LEGO compatible studs on one side and Duplo compatible studs on the other, and they measured 101x38 (Lego) studs. They fit (...) (23 years ago, 1-Nov-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Mystery 5 x 5 Semi-brick

Has anyone seen this piece before? (URL) Tente, it fits to Lego and has no letters on the studs. The fabric and colour remind very much of newer Lego trees. The sidewards attaching system is quite interesting, and works great on the two pieces I (...) (23 years ago, 30-Oct-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Review of LotRs Prancing Pony

(...) I plan to pick up most of the product line, but I haven't seen any of it locally yet. Where in the TRU did you find them?   Mega Modelz

(...) what can be done with basic bricks (remember when LEGO used those?). I don't have a piece breakdown yet, but with ~545 parts for $9.97 I'm not complaining. I'll post a more elaborate review soon. There's a new Harley kit I haven't seen yet, (...) (23 years ago, 30-Oct-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Mystery Wheels

I have just recieved some wheels like these: (URL) white, but also some red. I don't think they're LEGO, but i don't know. They look very old, but in good condition. They fit to Lego bricks but not to plates, due to their high studs. The feel is (...) (23 years ago, 30-Oct-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Review of LotRs Prancing Pony

I bought the Prancing Pony set at TRU over the weekend for $34.00. It comes with 220 usable pieces that are good quality (I know almost 16 cents apiece). That's a lot for parts to use on other constructions, but if you want different colors and (...) (23 years ago, 29-Oct-01, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: Tyco

(...) TYCO is generally regarded as the best of the clone brands, but alas it is no longer made. Called Superblocks, the bricks came in an array of colors and themes, such as castle, construction, military, space, and just general building sets a la (...)
