(...) I first used this method in my marine pedestal crane: (URL) winch was used for the 16-part main block. (URL) was powerful enough to lift 48 pounds! (...) I found out that my 'small scale' Gottwald, reaches a point around 5 meters where the boom could not handle the heavy forces. With a flyjib configuration the forces on the main boom are huge. And I'm still amazed by how well the droid wheel performs as a slew ring - when I was setting up for the shots, I forgot to lock the slew ring, and a very slight (I barely felt it) gust came (...)
