  X.com... good idea, lousy execution?

I see where X.com is now suggesting that people use it to settle auction payments. This answers the question that some folks had about whether you could refer your customers and get the bonus. You can. https://www.x.com/pa...ctions.asp (...) (25 years ago, 25-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: X.com... good idea, lousy execution?

One of my high bidders asked me to use them as a referral, so I did. I did that yesterday, haven't heard back yet if they received their $10. I will post more info as soon as I hear anything. Julie (...) (25 years ago, 25-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

(...) Can't help you then. We got 13 referrals to our account, but that was probably at least a couple weeks ago. What I can say is that since then I have made 2 purchases with my X.com visa checkcard, without a hitch. (25 years ago, 26-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: X.com... good idea, lousy execution?

FYI: MONEY MOVES MADE EASY BY ONLINE BANK As financial institutions continue to develop online innovations (see stories below), electronic banking got some bad news when it was discovered that the software used by the online X.Com Bank allowed (...) In lugnet.market.theory, Larry Pieniazek writes: I am a lot happier with X now, things seem to be working great. No glitches and everything has happened as it is supposed to. My ATM card worked, and they rebated the fee just like promised without me (...) (25 years ago, 9-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

(...) and (...) I am loving getting paid for auctions and shipping the product the same day the auction is over! I haven't gotten my ATM card yet, but I can tell I am going to continue to love this thing. Mike Poindexter (25 years ago, 9-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: X.com... good idea, good execution?

I've got a question on x.com. If you use a credit card to deposit, does it come off as a cash advance or a regular charge? Are there any fees associated with a credit card deposit? If you use a different means of deposit, what means do you use? I (...) (25 years ago, 9-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: X.com... good idea, good execution?

(...) Their "live" on-the-web chat support told me that credit card deposits were treated as purchases, but that that may change in the future. I made a credit card deposit to my X.COM account and it was treated as a purchase. Have to love getting (...) (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

(...) then (...) Unfortunately, the credit card companies will put an end to this as soon as they catch on. :/ There was a big story on the news a couple years back about something similar to this. A couple raked in MILLIONS of frequent flier miles (...) (25 years ago, 11-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: X.com... good idea, good execution?

(...) I remember this too. You are right that it was AAA. The couple used AAA because AAA was the only place where you could buy traveler's checks without any transaction fee. The thing that makes the X.COM system unlikely to change is the $1000 per (...) (25 years ago, 11-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: X.com... good idea, good execution?

(...) Ahhh....having not signed up for X yet, I did not know about this provision. Still, it was mentioned that they were thinking about changing it so that they would show up as cash advances. I know on my cards atleast, cash advances did not ocunt (...) (25 years ago, 11-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: X.com... good idea, good execution?

(...) Also, on most cards I've seen, there is a cash advance fee, and cash advances don't have an interest free grace period. This is my concern with x.com, and why I asked about this. If deposits are charged as a cash advance, it will cost you (...) (25 years ago, 11-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: X.com... good idea, good execution?

(...) I don't really see what difference it makes if the deposits are treated as cash advances or purchases, unless you're only talking about using actual credit cards for that. I've used my visa check card twice now to make deposits to my X.com (...) (25 years ago, 11-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: X.com... good idea, good execution?

(...) The difference is that with most credit cards, when you get a cash advance (I have never done this, but the little lawyer in me actually reads those contracts that they send out with new cards.) the following happens with most cards: 1) The (...)   Re: X.com... good idea, good execution?

Oddly, I have witnessed a little side action on this 'cash advance' thing. At the local grocer (small town place), people can pay with credit, debit or whatever electronic else they take. When someone pays with a 'debit' card, the clerk usually asks (...) (25 years ago, 16-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.theory)
