2kg to the US is ~$25 from the UK. As a guide, a 8480 weighs 2kg (unpacked).

The UK system is based on a series of weight categories below 2kg. There
categories get larger as the weight increases. The German system I think, is
very similar... but there are far fewer categories. Basically this means all
packets in the 1-2 kg region are sent a the same price. Not a very good
system compared to what exists in the UK.
