No. LD can do just about anything it wants-- new molds, new colors, new
themes; whatever (per Brad Justus). Some activities, such as creating a new
theme require many levels of approval, a process that is time-consuming to say
the least (years). LD's goal has been to get new product to market fast
(months).
New molds require development and relatively high initial capital output. What
LD has decided to do thus far is to produce sets that augment other themes, or
create themes (sculptures, for example) that require little by way of
investment, thus maximizing their return (in addition to the cost-saving
measures of direct marketing through S@H and the web)
