Question about open sets at Toys R Us —Michael Brenner
I came across an open UCS Tie at TRU tonight. It was open on one side and I was going to ask for a discount. I have never done that in the past but the set could be missing parts. How receptive would a TRU manager be to the idea of giving a break on (...) (24 years ago, 14-Mar-01, to lugnet.market.shopping)

(...) I have. They usually give you about 20% off of the listed price. Not too comforting for something that maybe missing pieces. Rich -- Have Fun! C-Ya! Legoman34 ***** Legoman34 (Richard W.       I bought a mindstorms robo-sports kit form best buy one day. It retails for $49, but it was opened and was marked down to $4.99. 90% off! I looked inside and it looked to me that everythign was there, so I skarfed it up. When I got home, i (...) (24 years ago, 14-Mar-01, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: Question about open sets at Toys R Us —Steven Combs
Heck, I bought a train set and it was missing polybags. I called Lego and they shipped all of the missing pieces to me in 5 days. That is what I call customer service. Let's see the knock off brands keep up with that. Steven (...) (23 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: Question about open sets at Toys R Us —Aaron West
(...) Well, LEGO does have that customer service number thing, and I'm a big 'ol clearance hawk. If the set you buy is missing fewer than 20% of the parts (any more than a few and stores usually send 'em back) then call and they will REPLACE parts (...)          Re: Question about open sets at Toys R Us —Rose Regner
I found a UCS x-wing last summer that was missing pieces and they had marked it down to $75. I offer $50 for it and the manager took my offer. Thanks to Michael Browns auction I am only missing 6 pieces. Rose Richard W. Schamus (legoman34) wrote in (...) (24 years ago, 14-Mar-01, to lugnet.market.shopping)

(...) Call LEGO customer service, they will help you with the missing pieces. It is likely they will help replace six parts from the instructions. Best, Aaron (24 years ago, 14-Mar-01, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Dan and I found a mindstorms set missing the RCX, we asked about it, they said "yeah, happens all the time, full price, sorry". (...) (24 years ago, 14-Mar-01, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: Question about open sets at Toys R Us —Bradley Dale
(...) I found an opened <set:3038 Spider Slayer> at TRU which scanned as $20 (Canadian dollars), which I figure is over 70% off. Since the motor was still there, I figured nobody had stolen anything from it. I was right. If you're asking for a (...) (24 years ago, 14-Mar-01, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: Question about open sets at Toys R Us —Lindsay Frederick Braun
(...) Let's see, this one was in western Windsor, ON? I found one 3038 there, opened, for Can$20--opted against it in the end when the Canadian system couldn't handle my MasterCard (!?!?--only country I've ever had it fail to work with). I wouldn't (...) (24 years ago, 14-Mar-01, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: Question about open sets at Toys R Us —Bryan Beckwith
I had the same experience at Wal-Mart. There was a Millenium Falcon that was totally ripped into. The front of the box had a tear half way up it in the middle and many of the polybags were obviously open. I talked to a manager about it and "10% is (...)          Re: Question about open sets at Toys R Us —Kyle D. Jackson
(...) I got an open <set:6982 Exploriens Starship> from Zellers for Cdn$25 I think it was (so about US$17). They had it "clearance" stickered at Cdn$90, which was a joke. Flip up the front lid and all you could see in the box were 3 poly-bags worth (...) (24 years ago, 16-Mar-01, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: Question about open sets at Toys R Us —Kyle D. Jackson
(...) Just had to follow up my own message here..., this is my own personal FOTL(ifetime) so far: I put the set together and was only missing 4 pieces! One sticker had already been applied, too. For US$17 I can't complain! I will say though that (...) (24 years ago, 18-Mar-01, to lugnet.market.shopping)
