Re: My Toys R Us Nightmare

(...) I'm not sure that you are blowing this entirely out of proportion, but file a police report and demand the return of the stolen item. That's about as far as you can go with it. Bruce (25 years ago, 14-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

(...) I have already done that. But buying stolen goods is not legal and reselling them is even worse. It doesn't matter if they "know" or not. The reason they should check ID is so that they verify the person who they are giving the refund to is (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: My Toys R Us Nightmare

(...) Most stores are pretty flexible on returns because many people want to be able to return gifts. How do you propose that be allowed? The illegality of buying stolen goods is an interesting one. If it is clear that the goods are stolen, I can (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: My Toys R Us Nightmare

(...) I had bought the ONLY items left of that type and knew the time I had bought them. No one else could have possibly claimed to buy the same item at the same time because there weren't any more. That should be in the police report because I told (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jan-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) The you have a legal case - but by the time all is said and done, it won't have been worth it. Don't ask for a refund: demand the item back. Be prepared with a police report. If they won't budge, my advice is to move on. It's a minor item. (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

(...) Even if an accurate description of the culprit (which I'm sure it is--and then some), I'll raise the killjoy-spectre of "please watch the language." That's a word that I think should have remained in the not-for-prime-time lexicon. (...) This (...) (25 years ago, 15-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

(...) Tim, didn't your car insurance cover the window and any items stolen from the car? After the $50 deductible, mine does--including merchandise inside the car. Thank God for Michigan insurance laws! best Lindsay (25 years ago, 15-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: My Toys R Us Nightmare

And I thought Kalifornia's laws were socialistic and ridiculous! Most states I've lived in, anything loose in the car is NOT covered. And I for one agree with that statement, I wouldn't expect an insurance company to have to pay for something you (...) (25 years ago, 16-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: My Toys R Us Nightmare

(...) Well, that's part of the catch. You see, Michigan's not really much of a socialist state--so this kind of comprehensive coverage does cost me. However, it costs me less to have full coverage with all the bells and whistles from Michigan that (...) (25 years ago, 16-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)
