    Airmail vs Economy —Ray Sanders
Recently, I sold some parts to a buyer in Australia. The package was supposed to go airmail, but (apparently) went surface because the USPS clerk forgot to stamp 'Airmail' on the package. Airmail postage was paid for and applied to the package. (...) (23 years ago, 4-May-01, to lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: Airmail vs Economy —Frank Filz
(...) to (...) stamp (...) in (...) While I've only been on the receiving end, I can definitely say that there is a difference in speed between air and surface from Europe. In fact, I'm pretty sure that "small packets" (a size and weight restricted (...) (23 years ago, 4-May-01, to lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: Airmail vs Economy —Kyle D. Jackson
(...) I know that some services will use air to move between countries for both methods, but the local movement is what is different. For "Air" it would move by air for as much of the trip as practical, only using truck for the very start and end of (...) (23 years ago, 6-May-01, to lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: Airmail vs Economy —Deidre Rushton Brumby
(...) I'm in Australia and I recently completed a trade with a person in the US. I sent my parcel to the US via Economy Airmail and it took around 16 days. The parcel from the US was sent Surface and it took 63 days. Packages were about the same (...) (23 years ago, 6-May-01, to lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: Airmail vs Economy —Troy Cefaratti
From what I noticed with the new USPS pricing, they seem to be really pushing the "Global Airmail Letterpost", or what used to be called "Small-Packets Air". I've seen numerous times where the cost for airmail was actually less than surface, (...) (23 years ago, 7-May-01, to lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: Airmail vs Economy —Ray Sanders
(...) Some of the pricing mystery is de-mystified here ... (URL) Economy Letter Post is calculated at flat rate for anything under 16-oz. It appears that Airmail Letter Post is cheaper for small packages (up to 5-oz) because of the rate schedule (...) (23 years ago, 7-May-01, to lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: Airmail vs Economy —Selçuk Göre
(...) The important issue is not the means of transport, but priority to use that certain means of transport, AFAIK. For the last three year, I have been ordering books from amazon.com every month, and I always prefer my order to be shipped via (...) (23 years ago, 7-May-01, to lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: Airmail vs Economy —Kevin Salm
(...) 43 days seems reasonable to me. I once had a package of two full-sized and two over-sized [1] Lego sets sent to me via surface from Italy to the USA. It was during the December holiday package season and it arrived in 45 days of being sent. I (...) (23 years ago, 18-May-01, to lugnet.market.shipping)
