  The meaning of "Complete"

[FUT lugnet.market.theory] G'day folks, I've been thinking about this for quite a while so I figure it's probably a good discussion topic. I've bought many LEGO sets over the past little while, mostly from eBay. Probably somewhere handy to (...)   Re: The meaning of "Complete"

(...) Same frequency as you experience on eBay (which is why I'ver pretty much stopped buying sets there) well under 5% (instead of 30%) for trades/auctions run here. never yet happened to me on BrickBay. Hmm.... maybe you should stop buying on eBay (...) (24 years ago, 15-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.theory)

  Re: The meaning of "Complete"

(...) I bought only one open set. It had a few minor missing parts and one major missing part (a red Technic chair). That's only if you count just the main model [1], If you count the alternative model [2] it had a lot of missing parts, mainly (...) (24 years ago, 15-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.theory)

  Re: The meaning of "Complete"

(...) Hm. This is an issue for me from the seller's point of view. I have quite a few space and town sets picked out of my collection that I'd like to sell, and indeed I've sold some of them, but I've made a few mistakes: missing pieces, wrong (...)   Re: The meaning of "Complete"

(...) Some things which would probably help: - specifically list all the rare pieces as being present (and specify the condition they are in) - add a disclaimer notice that all sets are complete to the best of your knowledge, and that you will be (...)   Re: The meaning of "Complete"

(...) You've raised an important issue. I try to be absolutely concientious in my dealings, and I frankly don't know why there is so much laziness among some sellers. If a person doesn't care about his/her good name and reputation for honorable (...) (24 years ago, 18-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.theory)

  Re: The meaning of "Complete"

(...) ...snip... Speaking as a buyer, I am generally more pleased with Brickbay set purchases than with Ebay purchases. Here's the most important thing I've learned for Ebay Lego purchases: Generally speaking, if you haven't bought from the person (...) (24 years ago, 18-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.theory)

  Re: The meaning of "Complete"

(...) Ouch. Well, it looks like it isn't just me then. (...) I don't have much choice---I collect Classic Space. Occasionally I catch wind of a non-eBay deal, but in general everything ends up piled on eBay. I'll just have to accept missing pieces (...) (24 years ago, 22-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.theory)

  Re: The meaning of "Complete"

(...) I agree with Frank's suggestions for Heather's questions. These are the sorts of things that I would put into my listings if I sold unsealed sets. (I only sell MISB sets at present, but will soon be selling unsealed sets as well. Many of these (...) (24 years ago, 22-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.theory)

  Re: The meaning of "Complete"

(...) This cuts both ways. While I share your anguish at seeing rare sets get parted, the flip side is this: Is it better to sell a somewhat incomplete set as is, or part it out, recoup your investment and potentially see the parts complete SEVERAL (...)   Re: The meaning of "Complete"

(...) I guess this was the other angle to my question. Most people have commented on missing pieces, but not many on substituted ones. I get parts subsituted like this all them time, although they are generally at least the correct colour. Some (...) (24 years ago, 22-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.theory)

  Re: The meaning of "Complete"

(...) My experience is that if the set isn't MISB (or at least 100% complete), you're far better off parting it out. I always do better--but then again, I rarely get anything more than a few years old to part out. YMMV. LFB (24 years ago, 22-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.theory)

  Re: The meaning of "Complete"

(...) Oh, I totally agree.... from the perspective of a seller. My bad, I didn't write this clearly enough to show that I was asking the question from the perspective of a BUYER. I think it's a tossup, there. Kyle, I think, feels that from the (...) (24 years ago, 23-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.theory)
