Mike,

When I started The Brickyard on DTRH one of the things that
drew me to it *was* the exclusivity rule. I felt that the rule
would give me some breathing space to experiment and nurture
The Brickyard into an innovative and effective site.

It was my understanding that their exclusivity rule was hard
and fast. It was only today that I found the decision to keep
the Lego topic exclusive was mine.

I feel intensely uncomfortable with being forced to make this
decision, and feel that it puts me in a "no win" situation. If
I let go of exclusivity then I've got a major player a couple
of sectors away on the hard drive; if I keep exclusivity at
DTRH I risk offending you (and by extension the rest of the
Lego online community).

Ultimately, I guess I would be able to live with a Lego
"neighbor" at DTRH, after all it's just another URL.

I would hope though that a new site would offer some features
that would substantially differentiate it from The Brickyard.
I've spent quite a bit of time and effort with the DTRH staff
working to craft what I feel is an innovative approach to
Lego element auctions and I would hate to see that diluted
now that I've reached a certain level of exposure within the
Lego community.

I'm hoping you understand my concerns and the difficulty I'm
having with this situation. I'd also like to get your feedback
and that of others here at lugnet before I make a decision.

Gene @ The Brickyard

Well, I think your thoughtful response deserves more time than I can give it right now since I'm due to meet my family at the hospital in just a bit, but I'd just like to point out that, to me anyway, this wouldn't have to be viewed as a (...) Hello everyone, First, I'd like to publicly apologize to Gene & to Mike for ( inadvertedly) causing an uncomfortable situation for them. I never foresaw or intended anything like this to happen. Regarding the 'exclusivity' policy - as I explained to (...) (25 years ago, 17-Feb-99, to lugnet.market.auction)

/rant on Since this will be about a site that hosts auctions I guess it fits in best here. Well, I received a rather unwelcome surprise this morning. Some may have noticed Gene and I discussing the auction hosting service provided by DTRH.com - (...) (25 years ago, 17-Feb-99, to lugnet.market.auction)
