For many years I used rtl and lugnet to buy and sell lego, but these days
everyone uses eBay. After using eBay for both buying and selling recently, I
have found it a pleasant experience and not quite what I expected. Almost
everyone I have traded with has been fine, and purchases and sales have all
been at reasonable prices. As in life there are always going to be the
mercenary types but their presence is obvious, my advice is to just ignore
them.

My tuppennny worth.

I have to agree, if you look closely at most of the problems with
people bidding on ebay, it appears that the items were not what the person
expected when they arrived. If you look back at the description then they are
indeed a bit vague. You have to wonder why the bidder did not ask any
quuestions, or ask THEMSELVES the question, if it was in excellent
condition, 100% complete, a real gem etc etc. Don't you think the seller
would have
mentioned it? So why didn't they? Was it because they didn't think it
matters or have they something to hide? My personnal favourite has to be,
"I'm not an expert in Lego but......" Its amazing what errors this little
sentence can hide.
I have found very few items listed were the seller has lied, but quite
a few that are very short on information. I wonder why? Let the buyer
beware.
With all that in mind, I find ebay a wonderful resource for the Lego
addict.

Michael.

(...) I suffered this once - the condition of the item only very loosely matched the description. I didn't pursue it because it was only of low value, but caveat emptor, as you say. (23 years ago, 26-Nov-01, to lugnet.loc.uk)
