This is bugging me too now, my mind being somewhat confused and unable to
distinguish between two possible sources;
i) words spoken by Lenny in John Steinbeck's of mice and men
ii) From Lord of the rings but the characters name escapes me? ..... was it
Gollen??? .... I also vaguely recall the utterings 'What's he got in his
pocket'sess'

Jason

In lugnet.loc.uk, Tony Priestman writes:
You probably won't understand the quote 'He touched the Pretty Things!',
but I can probably dig out the odd few thousand bits for us to play with
without traumatising myself too much :-)

Okay, this has been bugging me for ages.  Go on.  Spill the beans...

(...) Yes LOR, quote from Gollum, a demented former Hobbit! "Don't touch the pretty things" is Fagin from Oliver Twist methinks ! Michael Pratt (23 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.loc.uk)
