  Autocar/Land Rover/Lego competition

This weeks Autocar (Wed 9th) has the form for this years young car designer competition. If you haven't seen this before, you have to design a 3d model of a car using whatever materials you like. The good bit is if you send off for an application (...) (23 years ago, 10-Jan-02, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Got my S@H order today: don't buy Darth Vader!

(...) I agree. There has been a lot of carping about them (cost & parts), but I think the "look" is quite interesting. Esp the trans-red canopies. Scott A (...) (23 years ago, 10-Jan-02, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Got my S@H order today: don't buy Darth Vader!

(...) Actually squids have 10 arms! I think the new Alpha Team sets, especially the squid sub, are the best stuff that I've seen from Lego for 2002. Roll on the Star Wars Episode II sets! Cheers, Paul. (23 years ago, 10-Jan-02, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Got my S@H order today: don't buy Darth Vader!

I say get the Dark Lord! Just not from shop@home. Their prices are totally out of hand (in Europe, at least). Granted, the box is WAY too large, but the set contains almost exclusively very small parts so the box has to be huge in order to justify (...) (23 years ago, 10-Jan-02, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: ROLL CALL - Professional model making at LLW for £69!

Hi, I have been lurking on Lugnet for quite some time now and have been reading the Lego Red Letter Day thread with great interest. I would like to be part of the group of you that are talking about going on the 6th April. I have posted a few times (...) (23 years ago, 10-Jan-02, to lugnet.loc.uk)

I suppose I should go and have a look at the bridge - seeing as I only live a few miles away. I had heard of it recently but didnt realise it was such an old structure. I'll have to see if I can find plans for it -- James Stacey ---...--- (...) (23 years ago, 10-Jan-02, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: ROLL CALL - Professional model making at LLW for £69!

You can count me on too. My only concern is that if I get very busy at work, I may have to decline few weeks before. But I'll do my best to come. 1kg legos is always good, except if it is 2*4 bricks ! Gael (23 years ago, 10-Jan-02, to lugnet.loc.uk)

  doors and windows pack

Sorry if you have all seen this before, but I noticed in the new s@h catalogue a bulk doors and windows pack - 9274, 172 pieces. I thought funny, I was looking through bulk on-line yesterday and didn't notice it. So I went back and typed the set (...)   Falkirk Wheel's Link with Lego (was Re: Newport Transporter Bridge)

(...) I was lucky enough to get a tour of the Falkirk Wheel site last year. I did take some pictures (Disclaimer : it was a very dull day & I ran out of film before I got to the tunnel under the Antoine wall and the double lock). The bottom of the (...) (23 years ago, 10-Jan-02, to lugnet.loc.uk)

(...) I think I'm right in saying that the new Royal Victoria Dock Footbridge built (within the last 2 or 3 years) in London Docklands serving ExCel Exhibition Centre will also work in the same way - currently, you can take the stairs or a lift up (...) (23 years ago, 10-Jan-02, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: ROLL CALL - Professional model making at LLW for £69!

(...) Well you can count me in to both ideas, by the way is it actually possible to have "overkill" with Lego? Or is this when the top floor of your house falls down due the weight of the stuff and squashes you! As I will be travelling from (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jan-02, to lugnet.loc.uk)

ROLL CALL - Professional model making at LLW for £69!

OK guys, who is up for: Sunday 7 April at 9:30am?!? Sounds like the preferred option at the mo. Then we get all afternoon to wander around the park too :-) If we can come up with enough definite names, we (i.e. Linda) should be able to negotiate a (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jan-02, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Newport Transporter Bridge (Was Re: Professional model making at LLW for £69!)

(...) Well I guess that proves that no-one looks at anyone's profile ;-) It's been down as my 'Someday I will build' for ages. In fact I thought I'd discussed this last year when doing the New Civil Engineer thing (and James Stacey mentioned the use (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jan-02, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Got my S@H order today: don't buy Darth Vader!

Those that know me know that I can't resist anything new, so I ordered quite a few 2002 sets last week. Here are a few first impressions: Racers: Much better than expected, after last year's atrocities. The pull-back motor in the small £2.99 ones is (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jan-02, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Professional model making at LLW for £69!

Ok, I would prefer April, with August being second. I won't be able to the May date. Can I suggest that we have a roll call & try to book it on Friday or Monday? If anyone can't make it, they can always book one of the other days :-) Tony On Wed, 9 (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jan-02, to lugnet.loc.uk)
