It will be interesting to see what prices are charged for the bulk packs.
When it comes to design-your-own-set, the part and colour selection will be
interesting. Note the featured builders Eric and Henry, build sculptures
using mainly basic bricks and plates. The 'Statue of Liberty' and 'Minifig'
sets are along the same lines. They talk about ordering the 'bricks' you
require for your custom set. I'm sure one of KKK's quotes mentioned 'basic'.
So maybe LEGO think everyone will be designing sculpture type sets as opposed
to Systems style sets. Having many elements in many colours would be a
nightmare for their inventory control and since they are closing the moulding
facility in the US, all custom sets would have to come from Europe, which
would mean a hefty wait for the sets to arrive.
But it should be interesting to see what develops.

| (...) Maybe. Maybe not. What the press release actually said was: "In 2001 the LEGO Shop at Home will be made available to consumers from Southern Europe and Asia/Pacific." I would be more confident if the press release had used the word (...) (24 years ago, 8-Dec-00, to lugnet.loc.au)
