Hello all, You should read what has come out of the official LEGO PR machine, makes some interesting reading. Follow link. (URL) on Builiding Gary (Town BUG) (24 years ago, 7-Dec-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

        Re: Lego announcments —Peter White
(...) Asia and Australia in 2001 ! It will be interesting to see what prices are charged for the bulk packs. When it comes to design-your-own-set, the part and colour selection will be interesting. Note the featured builders Eric and Henry, build (...) (24 years ago, 8-Dec-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

        Re: Lego announcments —Kerry Raymond
(...) Maybe. Maybe not. What the press release actually said was: "In 2001 the LEGO Shop at Home will be made available to consumers from Southern Europe and Asia/Pacific." I would be more confident if the press release had used the word (...) (24 years ago, 8-Dec-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

        Re: Lego announcments —Benjamin Whytcross
(...) Agreed...Asia-Pacific is too broad an area. After all, they were planning for LD to be in Aus at the end of THIS year. Benjamin Whytcross (24 years ago, 8-Dec-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

(...) The exclamation mark was my way of saying I will believe it when I see it.           Re: Lego announcments —Benjamin Whytcross
(...) OOPS...Yep, they certainly do deserve praise for the change in their pricing policy...it's just that I'm stuck on the OLD LA where they charged high prices, and weren't prepared to communicate with stores who have placed orders. Anyway, if (...) (24 years ago, 9-Dec-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

(...) Nah, Guam probably goes through US S@H, being on the US postal route. :( Anyways, 2001 sets have shown up in Leiden (Netherlands) which, while not Australia, is pretty remarkable--last year it took a very very long time for them to appear on (...)       (...) That's it, I'm off to Guam ;^) (...) What will happen now with the moulding mainly in Europe. Maybe with Lego Direct in op worldwide, the world will be in synch. (...) How far do you think the colour range will go ? pw (24 years ago, 9-Dec-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: Lego announcments —Lindsay Frederick Braun
(...) Hey, they *do* have an "Outback Steakhouse" there...(shudder) (...) I wonder if all moulding is being handled in Europe, or if any thing at all is going to be done elsewhere...? I'm going to take my Dutch LoM box back to the US and check it (...) (24 years ago, 9-Dec-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

          Re: Lego announc_e_ments —Peter White
(...) The SW buckets in Australia have 'Made by LEGO Co, Seoul, Korea.' Surely they're up to more than just producing these. One of the Arctic sets here had a piece count on it (origins?), aren't piece counts a trade secret for ex-Euro sets. (...) (...) (24 years ago, 9-Dec-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

        Re: Lego announcments —Mark Harrison
Hi Kerry, Australia is a small part of the Asia/Pacific Lego region which has its head office in Singapore. So if its coming to A/P then its definitely coming to Australia. Also, expect to be charged in US dollars. My friend at LA said this was (...) (24 years ago, 9-Dec-00, to lugnet.org.au)

        Re: Lego announcments —Peter Parsons
(...) Why? Wouldn't L/A be handling the franchise so why should they charge us in USD instead of our own currency. Or is L/D going to be handled(and I use that word very loosely)by their parent US company in which case we may as well just buy it (...) (24 years ago, 9-Dec-00, to lugnet.org.au)

        Re: Lego announcments —Mark Harrison
I've been told that Lego Australia aren't involved with Lego Direct. They may provide some customer service but have nothing to do with orders or distribution of pieces. If the pieces don't come fron Denmark then probably Korea as has been the case (...) (24 years ago, 10-Dec-00, to lugnet.org.au)

        Re: Lego announcments —Peter White
(...) Why should there be any difference ? A company with LEGO's quality control wouldn't operate there, if there were any concerns. North Korea would be a different kettle of fish. (24 years ago, 11-Dec-00, to lugnet.org.au)
