Re: A possible way to get cheaper sets?

(...) intact (...) Thanks Lindsay, I'm sure we would love access to some of the LSAH stuff, especially service packs etc. The new Adventurers sounds interesting too. We probably wanted to ask this before, but thought it would put people out. (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: A possible way to get cheaper sets?

(...) James Howse has already established that LA are not interested in retail sales, and unfortunately they'd classify us as retail, no matter how formalised we became. I think this proposal is a dead horse. I'm still going to work on the LEGO room (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: Grey baseplates (was Re: sales status 26/04/2000)

(...) Thanks, Ben, but I picked up a couple last weekend for $14.35 each at GB's. Unfortunately they wouldn't pricematch with BigW *then* discount, but it was worth a try! Posting them would be interesting, I'd like to see the look on their face at (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: A possible way to get cheaper sets?

(...) Well, you also have a lot of Oz-friendly folks across various oceans who might be willing to help obtain certain items and keep the Balance of Lego Flow intact across the Pacific. ;) I could certainly do a little bit of boxing and shipping at (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: A possible way to get cheaper sets?

(...) Our NSW group keep talking about this. It's worth a formal approach I think, and our patronage deserves special privileges surely :^o I'm certainly willing to run it/get it started, but we will need to formalise the group a bit more (...ick). (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

A possible way to get cheaper sets?

Just wondering if anyone has looked into what is involved in getting sets direct from LA. This could help us lower our costs if we could somehow get an account going with LA. I'm sure we could easily get the minimum amount of sales, and maybe this (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

  Re: Lego Roadshow

(...) It's even simpler than that. The cost of setting up, supplying and staffing a factory anywhere in the Australasian region would nowhere near be offset the costs saved in transport. And let's face, it the average john doesn't even know what (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Grey baseplates (was Re: sales status 26/04/2000)

Peter, if you're interested, I may be able to get them at about $15 each, but I'm not sure how I'd get them to you...Could be fun posting them, though :) Benjamin Whytcross BWhytcro@PacificAccess.com.au Ph: (03) 9856 5282 Directory Technology Pty (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

  RE: Lego Roadshow

How about putting a new manufacturing facility in Australia...With the value of the aussie dollar, we could probably export the sets to the US for less than it costs to produce there. Also, they'd have a good selection of week-end workers who'd (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

  Re: Lego Roadshow

(...) Unfortunately the quality may suffer as well. As well they may be worried about piracy and their precious moulds and China's bad reputation for copyright infringement. Wasn't Korea a possible site for manufacturing and is there a plant in (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

  Re: Lego Roadshow

(...) Yeah, a lego china or something, wages are low, therefore that drives the cost down (we would hope) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

  RE: Lego Roadshow

That's the strange thing...They continually blame Denmark and shipping for everything from low stock to delayed arrival. You'd think they'd have learn't by now how long it takes to get items here, and if they can't get that right, then the least (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

  Re: Lego Roadshow

(...) No sales associated with the trailer, bummer. As for the itnery <sp?> it'll be in Castle hill next. The trailer belongs to the reps, it' not run from head office so they're very sketchy on details. As for more info on roboriders, expect them (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

  Re: FOTW - Vinnies Duplo

(...) If it has 2x4's and Rachel or Kaz don't want it, I'll take it. I want to use the Duplo 2x4's to do some mountain-base building and top off with Lego. pete.w (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

  RE: Lego Roadshow

G'day, you wouldn't be able to get a travel schedule/list of sets they're selling this time round, would you? Benjamin Whytcross BWhytcro@PacificAccess.com.au Ph: (03) 9856 5282 Directory Technology Pty Ltd 1/436 Elgar Road, Box Hill, 3128 Growing (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

  Lego Roadshow

The lego trailer seen last year is back with some new displays. This time it includes dioramas featuring the new starwars sets, Knight's Kingdom and the artic sets. Up the back of the display the six roboriders are posed coming out of their (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au.nsw.syd)

Re: FOTW - Road N rail hauler, Club car, Crocodile Loco

Well, there is no way that the set will be left lying around with the trader. I've already got two of these now so I don't feel the need for one more, which is why I'm letting it known that one is available (otherwise I would've kept it for myself). (...)   Re: FOTW - Road N rail hauler, Club car, Crocodile Loco

In lugnet.loc.au, Peter Callaway writes: <snip> (...) Rest Assured that it wasn't me. I've been very quiet on the Lego buying up until the Markets find. Missed all the K-mart/Target sales too. But I think i still ended up with some bargains over the (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: FOTW - Road N rail hauler, Club car, Crocodile Loco

(...) No, makes perfect sense to me! I support giving people good deals, but what I would hate to see is the set left in the store because no one local spoke up for it. It's too rare and valuable to let some random mundane get it and feed the pieces (...) (25 years ago, 30-Apr-00, to lugnet.loc.au)
