Yeah, a lego china or something, wages are low, therefore that drives the
cost down (we would hope)
Unfortunately the quality may suffer as well. As well they may be worried
about piracy and their precious moulds and China's bad reputation for
copyright infringement.

It's even simpler than that. The cost of setting up, supplying and staffing a
factory anywhere in the Australasian region would nowhere near  be offset the
costs saved in transport. And let's face, it the average john doesn't even
know what they're missing out on in terms of sets or release dates, not only
doesn't he know but probably wouldn't care if he did. After all we still buy
lego, I know we complain about these things but it doesn't actually hurt LA's
sales any.

However all that said, I agree with Benjamin, you'd think they'd know and
budget time for transport to achieve simultaneous release dates. It's not good
enough in this global age to view a first world country as a second string
market. Surely lego can't run production that close to release that sets
simply aren't ready to send in time.

Enough spleen venting, I'm off to set up a toy import company.

James (who's joking about importing, the government doesn't understand)
