It was myu understanding that LEGo has it's own sales force people that go
to the Tors R Us, Targets, etc.. and straight up and put out the LEGO
products.  Sure they don't go every day to stratight up at the end of the
night but it is LEGO and not the indvidual stores that layout where and how
the product is displayed at the stores.  At least that is how I have seen
both in Indiana and New York.  A LEGO employee or two go to TRU and redo the
layout every 2 weeks.

This is not a very accurate description of what happens. Yes TLC has
merchandising people visit the larger retailers like Toys R Us, but they do
not set the layout or positioning of any of the sections in the store.
Merchandising plans come directly from the retailers HQ and are then
interpreted on a store by store basis, depending on a particular stores
setup and size. Often times TLC makes suggestions to the corporate office
but ultimately it is their decision as to what goes where. The merchandisers
are there to record what is selling and evaluate the layout of their
products. Often times they will tidy up an aisle to help the store, but it
is not their responsibility. They also usually have a copy of the retailers
suggested merchandising plan and if they see a section that is setup
differently they can make point this out to the employees.  Their other
responsibility is to train the employees about their products and get them
excited about them, so they will recommend Lego sets to people who come in
and ask for a good gift for a specific person.

At least this is how it worked at all the retailers I have ever worked for
(I have never worked for Toys R Us)
