Re: Poor Service to Toy Shops = No Lego

Wow, I though it was just us... I work in a retail collectables shop. While we don't carry lego, our main buisness over the last few years has been high quality diecast model racing cars. What's interesting is how our fights with suppliers parallels (...) (22 years ago, 3-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Poor Service to Toy Shops = No Lego

I have to say that one of my regular stops reports the same experience. They have cut back substantially on what they carry. Ironically, a small "chain" of Toy Stores (I think 4 stores) that does carry them jacks up the prices ABOVE the listed Lego (...) (22 years ago, 3-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Poor Service to Toy Shops = No Lego

This is really kind of sad, only because I've heard it so many times. The primary complaints of my local "mah-n-pop" toy store are almost identical to others in this list. But to add my question to this string, why such a small margin for the (...) (22 years ago, 3-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Poor Service to Toy Shops = No Lego

(...) This got me thinking. Is it actually worth it to a large company like TLC to deal with small stores? On the surface, it would seem that the ROI is much higher selling to the large chains. So the question is what benefit does TLC get out of (...) (22 years ago, 3-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.market.theory)

Re: Poor Service to Toy Shops = No Lego

this must be the case world wide i am suprised more independant retailers don't drop lego as a line.In Australia we are told we can't sell via the net we have to place minimum orders and we must reach a set purchase level each year to keep our (...) (22 years ago, 3-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Poor Service to Toy Shops = No Lego

When I saw this thread, I remembered a series of conversations I had with a lego store manager.[1] Here is a summerized version of it: ---...---Week 1: Tuesday HER: Hello, Lego (TYPE) Store, (LOCATION). How may I help you? ME: I'm am interested in (...) (22 years ago, 2-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Anyone know just what the "conditions" for having an account are?

Jonathan Wilson wrote in message <3CF9C907.9010502@tp...com.au>... (...) When I investigated this (in Canada) the restrictions were that you had to sell the sets as sets (no breaking up and selling parts), they had to be sold through "normal retail (...)   Re: Poor Service to Toy Shops = No Lego

(...) I should point out that LEGO Direct is not a division that works with toy shops. Also, the lugnet.lego groups are for two-way constructive dialogue.. So, this thread should probably be in lugnet.dear-lego. But I understand how this particular (...) (22 years ago, 2-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Poor Service to Toy Shops = No Lego

It may not be as hopeless for all independent toy store that wish to sell Lego. There is an independent toy store here in Calgary, Alberta that does sell Lego, and they stock quite a bit of Lego. Also, I was able to pick up the Studios Monsters sets (...) (22 years ago, 2-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Anyone know just what the "conditions" for having an account are?

I understand there is a set of rules for being able to order wholesale from TLC, anyone know what they are? What about the "rules" for being allowed to sell online? (22 years ago, 2-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)
