Well, Brickbay.com does have several hundred of each, so perhaps that's also a workable option for you. ~540 rack gears (1x4): (URL) worm gears: (URL) run between $.20 and $.50 ea, and several sellers can sell you as many as 50-80 at a time. I'm not generally one for complaining since I'm of the opinion that. for the most part, Lego Direct has been doing an excellent job in meeting our needs but.... After spending over $1000.00 in the last four months at LD, I've run into my first (...) (23 years ago, 20-Dec-01, to lugnet.lego.direct)

I assume that this was S@H in the US, but I will try S@H in the UK, although they're normally a little behind the US in these matters. (Obviously, I live in the UK.) It was good to hear that there will be some more trains from Lego direct. I wonder if we will get a US outline diesel locos (you can with Duplo)?
