After quite a long run, the LEGO Event Kits have finally run out. Weve sent
out scores of the things all over the country in the last 10 months or so.
(Or has it been longer?)
Now that all of them are gone, Id like to ask two things:
Gather feedback
Ive collected a few notes over the months about what seemed to work well
and what didnt, but Id like to hear from you. It seems that the general
concept
of the event kits was a good one, and Id like to make sure the next time we
do these (see next item), they are as good as possible.
Collect Data
These kits got such a positive reaction in the community I want to do
everything I can do to get the concept bought into again for 2005. Id also
like to take the concept to colleagues in other countries and sell them on
the idea. But in order to do that, I need your help and data.
If you, your club, or your organization received a kit, Id like to request
the following:
|
Central Ohio Lego Train Club
|
- Number of kits received (some clubs/groups got more than one because of
|
1 initially, one later on to replenish lost bricks
|
- General location of both club and event(s) where the kit(s) was used
|
Dayton, OH, GATS show: we handed out stickers/buttons, had a playtable with the
bricks. Belleville, Illinois: we use the event kit to decorate a tree with
ornaments Toledo, OH, COSI show: handed out stickers/buttons, had a play table
(and lost many bricks due to kids taking them upstairs to the COSI play tables
:( ) Columbus, OH, GATS: Had a play table, handed out stickers/book covers
Cincinnati OH, GATS: Play table, and book cover handout Columbus, OH, Greenberg
show, handed out all remaining book covers/stickers/buttons, had a doulbe-sized
play table Columbus, OH, MARCON: uborrowed some bricks of the event kit to help
landscape
|
- Links to any pictures you have of the kit
|
http://www.coltc.org/index.php?c=displays
(brickshelf is in and out. Under each event (where used) there are pics of the
play-table
|
- Your best guess on how many people actively participated with the elements of the kit (took stickers,
|
many thousands.
|
- Your best guess on overall LEGO brand exposure (amount of people who came in contact with the kit)
|
well over 10 thousand.
|
This info will help me pull together a solid business case for why we should
do this concept again. (Or more specifically, an even better version of this
concept) Help me showcase how cool and effective this concept was.
|
Suggestion, have 2 types of KIT: A started kit (Bricks and handout thingies),
and a replenishing kit (just handout-thingies). Bricks will last many, many
shows, while the handout stuff in one kit we can dispers of in a single
high-volume show (GATS, Greenberg, Trainfestival, etc).
|
Thanks in advance for your help!
Jake
