The only thing that would give anything away from the story is explaining
Quirrell's two-sided head. (So if no one has emailed you about it and you are
still curious LMK.) So I'll give a general summary without spoilers for anyone
interested.

Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger are all first year students at
Hogwart's, a boarding school for wizards located at Hogwart's Castle. IIRC they
are about 10 years old in The Sorcerer's Stone. To get to Hogwart's at the
beginning of the school year they go to King's Cross Station in London, but
board from platform 9 3/4, accessible only by magic (hence the platform 9 3/4
sign in the Hogwart's Express set).
Hagrid is the gamekeeper at Hogwart's, Peeves is the resident poltergeist of
either all of Hogwart's or possibly Gryffindor, the dorm or house that Harry,
Ron and Hermione belong to. Of the other houses at Hogwart's, Slytherin is the
one that most of the villainous kids belong to, and Snape is Slytherin's house
master. Gryffindor and Slytherin have a long-running rivalry in both
Quidditch, a wizard-sport played on brooms, and in other areas as well.
Other things you may wonder about:
To get into Gryffindor House you must give a password to a fat lady in a
portrait on the wall.
Diagon Alley is a street somewhere in London (accessible by means such as
entering and exiting people's fireplaces) containing wizard shops.
The sorting hat is put on by new students-- it decides which house at Hogwart's
they will be in.
Fluffy the three-headed dog was guarding something (maybe the sorcerer's stone,
but maybe the valuables at Gringott's, the wizard bank-- sorry can't remember).
The picture in the Hogwart's classroom set is the Mirror of Erised (done in
LEGO a few weeks back by Brucey-wan)-- a mirror which reflects that which one
desires above all-- so Harry sees himself with his mother and father (he is an
orphan).
The room of winged keys is one of the obstacles to the sorcerer's stone.
Gosh, I could go on and on! But hey, you ought to read the book, it's really
pretty good!
BTW, to Troy, the pictures are great! Thanks for putting them up!

| They all look very nice, but since I've never read the Harry Potter books, and not familiar with the characters (do I have to duck and run?) could someone tell me a little bit about the characters. Is Hagrid a giant of some kind? What is Peeves? A (...) (23 years ago, 20-Sep-01, to lugnet.harrypotter)
