I won't respond point by point but I will say this, a good designer has
to have both creative and cognitive skills. Many bad designers have only
creative skills, the way I (and CTP) define them.
Understanding things like color theory, psychology, typography and
demographics are all things that fall on the cognitive side, at least as
I tend define it.
net net here is that I agree with you, except for the part where you say
I have little experience working with good designers. That's not true.
I'm a techie and I'm not a cognitive guy. I know good design when I see
it but I'm not competent to produce it and I know it. Proof? go look at
my site. Horrible design.

| (...) I do this for a living, too, but I'm on the creative side. I don't disagree with your basic theories of interface design, but the way that you present them makes me suspect that you have little experience working with a good interface (...) (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.general)
