Trouble with IE, PNG and BS —Didier Enjary
Hi, Sorry for this somewhat off-topic subject which I'm not sure where to post - I've FUT to off-topic.geek. I've recently uploaded PNG file format pictures (Photoshop generated) to BS for the first time (I was used with JPGs). The upload has worked (...) (18 years ago, 16-Oct-06, to lugnet.general)

(...) Yes, I have QT installed but IE does not launch it when I click the pictures deep links. I guess all this comes from the png file format, the way Photoshop record them (how it manages transparencies for instance) and the way viewers recognize (...)      (...) Huh! What happens when you try this one? (URL) the BS links, I get a black square in IE, but on the peeron one, it seems to be ok. Both work fine in FF, of course.      (...) Yes, you have the point, all the troubles comes from the way I've recorded the PNGs, with the box "don't save alpha layer" checked...I hope so (I've not been able to check this yet). Didier (18 years ago, 16-Oct-06, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) ok. Sorry for the trouble. ...and I finally understand the problem. IE (even the most recent version) is not supporting PNG alpha-channel transparenciy.    Isn't this a problem with newsreaders not having the correct functionality? Surely following a thread wherever it goes should be a basic feature of a newsreader and its a bit lacking if it doesn't? Tim (18 years ago, 16-Oct-06, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
