Hi,

Sorry for this somewhat off-topic subject which I'm not sure where to
post -
I've FUT to off-topic.geek.

Didier - please do NOT set a FUT to off-topic.geek unless someone
specifically asks you to - it screws me up when I post something to a
newsgroup as I usually expect the reply to go to the group I originally
found it in.  If you push FUT to off-topic.geek, I might ask where my post
went to because I don't see it showing up where I originally posted, and I
expect that to happen, not to find out it went to another newsgroup.

Here is the rest of my post that apparently made it to off-topic.geek,
unedited except for the above paragraph.

I've recently uploaded PNG file format pictures (Photoshop generated) to
BS for
the first time (I was used with JPGs).

The upload has worked well but I'm not able to see them with IE (6.0)
under
Windows XP. (thumbs are ok but pictures are black). All is fine using
Firefox.

Even more weirdness here, the first time I clicked on the link below, all
was fine as IE opened it up with QuickTime.

I've never encountered trouble with IE reading PNGs before.

Am I wrong with recording the PNGs pictures in PhotoShop (a light edition
that
comes with digital cameras)?

The gallery (yet moderated) :
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=210337

And then when I clicked here, the thumbnails are all fine, yet when I click
a pic, the pic inserted into the frame turns black!

One picture which is wrong with IE :
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/dickydidier/BuildingInstruction/Train/Plat/plat.png
(appears totally black)

When clicking this one directly, IE loads it using the QuickTime plugin, and
loads it correctly.

I'm not sure what that means, but it is certainly weird!  Do you have
QuickTime installed on your machine?

Cheers ...

Geoffrey Hyde

(...) ok. Sorry for the trouble. ...and I finally understand the problem. IE (even the most recent version) is not supporting PNG alpha-channel transparenciy. (but firefox, mozilla...do :-) ) For those who'd enjoy geek stuff, check (URL) you for (...) (18 years ago, 16-Oct-06, to lugnet.general)

(...) --snip-- Hi Geoffrey, I'm afraid I have to disagree with you here. What Didier probably should have done was post the original to both .general and .off-topic.geek but it is up to the original poster to set the FUT with consideration to where (...)
