Re: official products: LEGO Checkers and LEGO Dominoes

(...) Just last Thursday, at our local LEGO store, the manager had a copy of each for showoff. They are $19.95 MSRP. These sets are definitely way overpriced. The checkers set is a bunch of 2x2 DUPLO bricks, for at least twice the normal cost of (...) (18 years ago, 14-Aug-06, to lugnet.general)

official products: LEGO Checkers and LEGO Dominoes

Maybe these have been out for a while, but I just came across them at a department store online: (URL) Checkers> (URL) Dominoes> Apparently University Games has licensed LEGO for making these boxed products. Has anyone seen them? I wonder what (...) (18 years ago, 14-Aug-06, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: How many pieces in a pound? (estimation...)

(...) OK Dave, you have me scared now. Accoring to Peeron, I have 335367 parts from sets. Add several hundred pounds of Pick-A-Brick and I seem to be in the half-ton ballpark as well. That number just sounds huge. Or it means I am half way there. (...) (18 years ago, 14-Aug-06, to lugnet.general)

Re: How many pieces in a pound? (estimation...)

(...) BrickLink also has info (in many cases) for the weight of: the complete set, the original box, and the instructions, from which you could calculate the weight of just the parts (and polybags). Newer sets are more likely to have more complete (...) (18 years ago, 12-Aug-06, to lugnet.general)

Re: How many pieces in a pound? (estimation...)

Re: How many pieces in a pound? (estimation...)

(...) For the curious, I'm actually in the middle of doing a more precise calculation. After I answered yesterday, I went around and looked for previous LUGNET posts on the matter, and found a staggering number of estimations for less pieces per (...) (18 years ago, 11-Aug-06, to lugnet.general)

Re: How many pieces in a pound? (estimation...)

(...) Thanks DaveE, After I get the weight of one of my dollar store microwave containers (my preferred means of storage) from the delicate mail shipping scale here at work, I am going to try this out. Much Appreciated, Karl (18 years ago, 11-Aug-06, to lugnet.general)

Re: How many pieces in a pound? (estimation...)

(...) The estimations I've heard and used (to reasonable accuracy) are 400/pound and 500/pound. So I generally go with 450/pound and it seems to work out ok. I've also heard the estimation 1000/kg, which works out to roughly 454/pound, which is (...) (18 years ago, 10-Aug-06, to lugnet.general)

How many pieces in a pound? (estimation...)

Re: removing black marker from transparent pieces-CLEANING

(...) Thanks for the suggestion, Bob. The brake fluid worked! It even removed the cloudiness caused by trying out the hairspray for removal. (I didn't have a dry erase marker so I couldn't try that method.) Janice (18 years ago, 9-Aug-06, to lugnet.general)

Re: One really pissed off Lego customer!

(...) Hmm, here is the screen directly before you confirm your order. What more warning do you need? (URL) Sorry, but you seem to be flaming (or trolling) Lego. I'm gonna defend Lego.   YALUB (Yet Another Lego USB Drive)

Well, I finally got off my butt and tore apart one of my SanDisk Cruzer Micro USB drives, and fit it into Lego. I decided to use plates so I could add more color.
