This already exists - there’s a yellow tub that is sold empty at LEGO stores and
I believe at LLCA too. IIRC they were lampooned on LUGNET (“$X.XX for an empty
tub? What are they, nuts?”).
Personally I like the big tubs with the studs, just from a kitsch standpoint. I
know someone (who’s got a pretty big collection) who actually throws them away
after he takes the bricks out. But then again, he doesn’t sort either..
