Hey all, Much to my surprise, my local consignment shop had the complete theme. After looking over all the sets, I bought #4743 Ice Blade ($10) and #4742 Chill Speeder ($4). The idea seems to be Alpha Team meets Ice Planet 2002 with a dash of (...) (20 years ago, 16-Jun-04, to lugnet.general)

(...) Another thing to remember is that the click hinge "clicks" and therefore means that you can position canopies and whatever else in an "open" position. Which is better for "playability" (20 years ago, 16-Jun-04, to lugnet.general)

(...) You could position the old finger-hinges in an "open" position as well. The only big advantage I've found for the click-hinges is that depending on variation of the click hinges that you have (earlier ones had really floppy click-action, and (...) (...) Are you sure about that? They may not be the exact same parts, but the hinge fingers sure look like a match. I'll have to test it though. I'd bet Lego has a patent on the new click hinge finger design, in addition to any patents on the hinged (...) (20 years ago, 16-Jun-04, to lugnet.general)

(...) Oops. Perhaps my wording was vague, but you're correct. The fingers are indeed compatible, though the bricks/plates themselves are not overly similar.
