I'd suggest the messages/thread ratio suggests just the opposite: in
low-ratio groups, threads tend to stay on-topic, while in long-thread
groups, the conversations wander every which-way.

| (...) Cool statistics, Jeremy! Say, how did you define "thread" there? Did you go by the existance of "References:" headers? Or did you also count a new thread each time the subject (minus the Re:) changed? How about when discussions migrate out of (...) (25 years ago, 21-Jun-99, to lugnet.general)
