Dear LEGO,

Please don't lose focus on building, inspiring imagination and creativity

I zipped thru a TRU the other day, and saw something new.

Sets marked as "Classic".  I was in a bit of a hurry, so I did not have a
chance to do a close examination.   I saw two sets, a large box on the lower
shelf, and a small one near the top.  The color on the the boxes had a strong
black component.  I plan on going back down there to take a closer look at the
piece count, prices, and what is in them.  So more on this to follow.

Anybody else see these yet?  What are they?  And why haven't I seen any mention
of these before?  I was stunned to see something totally new and unknown to me,
as I thought I was pretty much 'in the loop' on TLG product lines.  :-/

(...) That appears to be the 'new' line of basic sets. The numbering scheme is in the 42xx range (4215, 4217, 4222, etc), and the contents don't appear to be much different from other basic sets. James (URL) (25 years ago, 21-Jun-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

(...) Classic sets are in the online catalog at (URL). They should be called 'FreeStyle Redux'. They seem to be the same pieces as FreeStyle, but with packaging featuring modern colors and no kooky creations. Steve (25 years ago, 21-Jun-99, to lugnet.general)

Dear LEGO, A passage in your 1998 Annual Report states: (quoted from (URL), in the section 'Steady as She Goes...') (...) I feel there is a point being missed here: currently, LEGO seems to produce two types of building sets: sets with instructions (...) (25 years ago, 21-Jun-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)
