When I had worked in the LEGOLAND California modelshop, we would occasionaly
come across elements that weren't completely molded in the bins of bricks.
Myself and another guy would collect them and in 4 years we maybe had around 100
or so irregular bricks. Given that we had used hundreds of thousands of bricks
in that same amount of time, it is only the smallest of percentages.

But I think it is true what someone said earlier. When you were a kid you might
of only gotten a few dozen sets per year. Now as AFOLs we now buy HUNDREDS of
sets per year. Statisically speaking, the odds are you will find more errors,
but it's not really a indication that LEGO quality is slipping.

The customer service department is still top notch, as they do replace parts, no
questions asked!

Having said that..... In my personal collection, I have had several red flag
pieces (the ones that covered the cannon window hole thingies) from the Black
Seas Baracuda that were not completely molded (back in 1990).

But, has anyone noticed the printing on mini-fig faces being less than great? I
have had quite a few lately that are smeared, blurry, or just plain bad printing
quality.
